Deland Genesis took home a big win from Florida Skydiving League meet #8 at Skydive Space Center in Titusville, Florida, inching it one step closer to the champion slot for the '98 season. But that slot is still definitely up for grabs with top-ranked Sebastian XL and Skydive City's ZSpot vying for this year's title.
ZSpot took second place at the Titusville meet. Because the team has competed in all eight season meets, it can use this meet's score to replace its weakest previous score. This replacement moved ZSpot up three league points.
But the top league slot still belongs to Sebastian XL. The team's season average stands at 15.9 points. Although this team struggled through its home meet, it managed to salvage a third-place finish.
So the race is on with only two meets left in the '98 season. Theoretically, these three teams are in the running for the PD cup and the cash purse that currently stands at $1,250.
ZSpot will have to win both the remaining meets to gain seven more league points and cinch the victory. While not impossible, it'll be a tough feat. And the top two teams will feel the heat of the underdog team.
