The second season of the Florida Skydiving League, a division of the National Skydiving League, is in full swing. This year, the league will run ten meets at different drop zones across the state. Skydive Space Center in Titusville hosted its first FSL 4-way meet in mid-January. The circuit is open to all teams willing to commit to competing for the whole season. Each team must attend at least seven meets to qualify. And the league makes this pretty easy: Each team can have an unlimited number of alternates. FSL uses a handicap system based on teams' scores from past meets and from the previous season.
In Titusville, Team Sebastian XL (Pete Allum, Toby Stafford, John McIver, Lee Love and Ian Brown) took first place with a total score of 97.0 and an average of 16.2 points over six rounds. Second place went to ZSpot (Ellen Jamett, Wendy Collins, Mike Hoogsteden and Jim Vandevelden) with an adjusted total score of 92.3 and an 8.7 average. Team Space Center FX2 (a guest team) held on to third place with a total of 86.6 and an average of 13.7 points.
So far, this season, Sebastian XL holds the first place ranking with 27 league points and no handicap. Space Center 98 also has 27 league points, but their 6.1 handicap places them second. Not far behind in third, ZSpot has 26 league points with a handicap of 6.7. Skydive Deland hosts the next meet on March 1.
