Did You Know...

... that Odyssey struggled with the airspeed in Round 1?

posted Mar 29th, 2008 - The scores of Round 1 at the World Challenge 2008 obviously brought back memories of last year's event. The international XL lineup opened the meet once again with the highest score of the round - over some of the best skydiving teams in the world, including Airspeed Odyssey.

The NSL-TV camera followed Airspeed Odyssey this time from the last preparations in front of the entry to the flying chamber all the way through the Round 1 session and the immediate after-action. The video can be viewed by clicking here.

Airspeed Odyssey apparantly had to struggle with a flaw of the airspeed at the beginning of the Round 1 session, as the NSL-TV video shows. The flying level went first up and then back down before Odyssey settled. It must have been distracting for the team, however, the 4-way veterans moved on solidly despite the "level problems".

The video clip shows that Airspeed's team captain Craig Girard mentioned the problem to his team mates right after leaving the flying chamber and then to the staff person outside. Other teams reported similar situations, although most of the teams did not have problems with the airflow.

The scores of Round 2 will be posted very soon, stay tuned.
