Did You Know...

... that new videos show the grande finale from the judging perspective?

Top teams wait for the final viewings
posted Apr 1st, 2008 - The NSL News is not done yet with the coverage of the World Challenge 2008 after returning from Bedford to Florida. There are many stories to come, and it will take a while to catch up with all the little events within the big event.

CamScore kindly provided the complete footage of the tunnel competition, and NSL-TV will upload as many of the videos from the judging perspective as possible. The final showdown between Airspeed Odyssey and Team XL in Round 10 has already been presented as a part of the NSL-TV video on March 30.

The NSL-TV camera captured the live viewing of Round 10 in the hangar by then. Both flying sessions were shown on a split CamScore screen at the same time. NSL-TV had already filmed both teams at their last performances in the flying chamber earlier. These two videos have also been uploaded already on March 30 and are still available.

The videos directly from the flying chamber show a completely different perspective and are actually more exciting since it is a real up close and live experience. The actual body language and mechanics of the moves can be seen much better from that level perspective.

However, there is no indication of the possible score at that time. The level perspective only indicates the quality of the performance. Some flaws that can be seen from a few feet away are not even visible from the angle of the judging video up above the flying level.

The Airspeed performance simply looked better when the NSL-TV camera filmed the action from within the flying chamber. The scores and the judging video from above confirmed this impression later with the scores of 26 versus 24 points.

The new videos provide the view from above, the same way as the judges can see it and as the team videographers usually film it in freefall. The white gloves were more important than ever since the dark background on the bottom of the flying chamber did not show the bodies and dark jumpsuits very well.

The videos are still significantly better compared to the World Challenge 2007 since Bodyflight Bedford's owner Paul Mayer added more light for the tunnel competition this year. It is very interesting to watch the level videos first and then compare them to the judging videos. Enjoy the new videos on NSL-TV.
