Did You Know...

... that the 4-way world is still wondering why and how?

posted Apr 6th, 2008 - NSL-TV continues with more videos of the World Challenge 2008, provided by CamScore, the DZ-TV and judging system developer from the United Kingdom.

Today's story follows the amazing race between Airspeed Odyssey and XL. This race was not amazing as of Airspeed Odyssey's performance, which was as it was expected: on the highest 4-way performance level currently in the world and in the history of Formation Skydiving competition.

This race was amazing due to the fact that a pickup team of experienced 4-way competitors was able to keep up with the best trained team in the world throughout the whole competition. The 4-way experts still try to find any explanation for this phenomen.

Even XL member in Bedford Pete Allum, wo trains and competes with the Italian team Sinapsi PD, could not really explain why XL things clicked once again so well after only 1.5 hours of tunnel training.

However, he mentioned that the team chemistry supports the world-class performance: "Brian Johnson fits well to our British humor." Former Airspeed member Brian Johnson is a US citizen and joined the British XL reunion already at the Wortld Challenge 2007.

The British humor obviously kept Team XL relaxed enough to get much better through the difficult time on Sunday morning, compared to last year. The first day was a copy of last year's event anyway when the underdog took the lead and maintained it all day long.

NSL-TV already featured Airspeed Odyssey's Round 1 from a different perspective with a video from the flying chamber on 29 March 2008. The headline already indicated what Airspeed was dealing with in the meet opener: "Odyssey struggled with the airspeed in Round 1".

The new video shows the same round from the judging perspective. The level difference is not as obvious as in the first NSL-TV video. However, it is easy to see that Airspeed is flying much closer to the camera throughout the first half of the flying session.

Odyssey's problem with the airspeed had a good side, as well. The judging video has a better quality. Airspeed flies closer to the light and closer to the camera at the same time. The difference of the quality is quite obvious, as both new videos of Round 1 show, compared to each other.

Airspeed lost Round 1 by one point, and the new XL - Airspeed race of 2008 was on. Airspeed then won Round 2 by one point and lost Round 3 again by one point. Both videos have already been uploaded with the story on 4 April 2008. XL's videos of these two rounds will be added later. Both teams tied the highscore of 23 points in Round 4.
