Did You Know...

... that NSL-TV features new A and Rookie Class videos?

Czech Republic
posted Jul 3rd, 2008 - Last weekend's leaderboard has been completed with the last scores coming from Colorado. It was a very unusual weekend as of the weather situation.

Meets were scheduled at six different locations in Europe and the USA, and the maximum number of completed rounds at any of these meets was four. Bad weather situations interfered almost everywhere.

Midwest, Colorado and Sweden got the best of the bad weather and completed four rounds. The Czech Republic was in second place with three rounds. The UK teams completed only one or two rounds, and New England was completely weathered out. Jan Klapka reported from the Czech Republic that the reason for the reduced number of three rounds were very windy conditions.

Czech A Class team Fast Arrows
He had all his AAA Class and AA Class teams at the competition site, and a new Rookie Class lineup joined the 4-way community in the Czech Republic, as well. The Crazy Dragons (Jiri Dnek, Eva Handzova, Marian Jeziak, Martin Vesely, with Zdenek Beckert on camera) already attended their second meet in the Rookie Class and increased the meet average from 4.2 in May to 6.3 last weekend.

The Czech AAA Class teams all improved their meet averages, as well. The Bad Boys finished on the top in the Czech Republic and had the team's first outdoor meet with all scores on the 2-digit level. The international AAA Class leaderboard was very strong despite the weather situation and left the Bad Boys in 7th place of the ten teams.

A Class team Fast Arrows (Jan Cermák, Jirina Klapková, Martin Kratochvíl, Renata Matasová, with Petr Broz on camera) had a 6.8 average in May and posted a 9.0 average last weekend. Fast Arrows started in the Rookie Class last year and moved up into the Czech Republic's new A Class in 2008.

NSL Rookie Class Champion of 2007: Mile Hi Mayhem
The Czech team finished in 3rd place of eight teams on the A Class leaderboard.

Mile Hi Mayhem of the Colorado Skydiving League was the strongest A Class team last weekend and ended up in 2nd place only due to the fact that the teams are ranked according to their meet averages.

The UK team Stangers ended up in 1st place with a 12.0 average after a 12-pointer in Round 1. The UK teams completed only one round in the A Class. Mayhem's 10.8 average is based on the team's four rounds in Colorado.

NSL-TV used the opportunity to upload a meet video of the Strangers' Round 4 at the previous competition in Netheravon. Mayhem provided the meet videos of all four rounds last weekend, and the NSL-TV audience can compare the performances of the British and the US team in the A Class.

Travis Roth reported from Colorado that the event was slowed down by weather, as well. The meet day did not start before 11:00 AM due to a cloud cover that was neither forecast nor expected. He said that the hosting skydiving center had also 20-ways going on at the same time, which held several local skydivers back from joining the 4-way meet.

He added that the US Air Force Academy cadets were out of school for the summer and practicing for July 4th demo jumps, thus did not compete, as well. Mile Hi Mayhem ended up as the only team competing in the A Class and representing the Colorado Skydiving League "with a style and grace that they are becoming known for", as Travis Roth explained:

Mayhem members observe other teams on DZ-TV
"Mayhem has progressed from a Rookie Class team, lucky to get a single point just a few years ago, to a very solid, clean, accurate, disciplined team – shown by consistent scores and no surprises bad or good. Watching the video of their jumps, you don't see them going big, taking chances, or rocking hard movements, but instead you see points that come like clockwork, like the beat of a drum, attributed to solid slot flying.

With a little competitive drive and ramping up the intensity a bit, perhaps they can achieve a 15-point average, but even at the very solid 10.8 average they have now, they are one of the better teams nationwide. Do they have the drive to push it to the next level?

UK Rookie Class team Innuendo
Pressing fast forward on the tape, the video looks just like a world champion team. Mayhem just needs to learn how to add speed while keeping, or even improving, the existing discipline and cleanliness."

NSL-TV also added videos of other UK teams that competed at the previous meet in the Rookie Class. Zero Degrees, Burble and Innuendo took the first three places of the Rookie Class competition on June 7 and demonstrate how the British Rookie Class teams currently perform.
