Did You Know...

... that the Crank caused exit trouble in Round 9?

posted Jul 17th, 2008 - NSL-TV has already moved on to Round 9 of the Paraclete XP Money Meet 2008. The videos have been uploaded and can be viewed on the event page.

The exit formation of the sequence, a Crank (N), caused trouble for two of the three top teams. Perris Fury's Crank broke partially and needed repair. It did not take the Perris team very long to fix it and move on. The recovery was good enough to tie the highscore of the round with a 22-pointer.

The damage was much worse for Airspeed Odyssey. The Crank from the right-hand door of the Pilatus Porter did not break. It just did not hit the subterminal air perfectly. Airspeed videographer Steve Novak had a hard time to capture the shaky Crank, and the judges apparently did not accept it as a clearly presented formation.

The same counted probably for the inter to the first Monopod of Block 4. It was difficult to see a complete separation, and another point was apparently lost on the hill. Airspeed completed the same 22 points within working time as Perris Fury and the Golden Knights.

However, there was an additional point deduction at a different spot, and the judges in the NSL-TV audience have an opportunity to look for it. Result of the total damage for the US national team was a 19-pointer and a 3-point loss in Round 9.

The Golden Knights had one of their best jumps of the meet in Round 9. The Army team had the best start of the three top contenders and maintained the same pace throughout the whole working time. The Knights almost completed Block 4 (Monopod - Monopod) on the 5th page and came very close to a 23-pointer, while Airspeed Odyssey and Perris Fury built their first Monopod just in time.

Airspeed Odyseey had lost the second round on Sunday, and the team was not too happy about it. However, the temporary disappointment was mostly caused by the uncertainty what happened. The team members were not aware of any infringements after the jump and surprised by the point deductions.

As usual, it did not take Airspeed very long to get over the flaw, as the scores of Round 10 clearly show. Paraclete XP was the only other team with a 1-point deduction.

The videos of the last round of the meet will be uploaded very soon and complete the NSL-TV coverage of the Paraclete XP Money Meet 2008.
