Did You Know...

... that the Czech Republic successfully completed its 2008 season?

posted Jul 29th, 2008 - The Czech Republic Skydiving League completed its fourth competition of the 2008 season last weekend. League Director Jan Klapka reported a successful event where all eight teams completed the six scheduled rounds. The Czech Republic is the host of next year's FAI World Cup of Formation Skydiving competition.

Jan Klapka was happy that he had all his teams ready to attend the competition.

He said that there were some injuries recently, and some of the Czech teams had difficulties to get their lineups together, especially in the Rookie Class.

However, eventually he even ended up with one new Rookie Class teams last weekend. Toi Toi consisted of two new members of the Czech 4-way community and two members of the AAA Class team Skyservice, which is currently the strongest team in the Czech Republic. Toi Toi did extremely well and finished with a 10.5 average after six rounds.

The Bad Boys, with Tomáš Beroušek, Jan Klapka, Václav Prokeš, Jaroslav Smitka and Miroslav Slánský on camera, were on their way to post a new team record average and lost it with a 3-pointer in the last round of the meet. The AAA Class team had an 11.4 average after five rounds, which would be significantly higher than the standing 6-round average of 10.3 at the May meet. The Bad Boys will have to wait for the next opportunity...

Czech A Class teams
PB Fire, with Jaroslav Hrstka (Center Outside), Renata Mazelová (Point), Jan Petrícek (Tail), Michal Pracny (Center Inside) and Jan Habetin on camera posted the team's best meet average of the season (6.3 - 7.7 - 9.2) at the last meet. PB Fire benefitted from a training camp with coach Robert Chromy the week prior to the competition.

Fast Arrows, the strongest Czech A Class team (Jan Cermák, Jirina Klapková, Martin Kratochvíl, Renata Matasová, Petr Broz on camera), is still holding the very top position of last weekend's A Class overall leaderboard. The team provided the meet video of Round 4, which is now available on NSL-TV.

Next event for the Czech teams is the ESL Championship 2008 in September on the Dutch island of Texel. Jan Klapka informed the ESL management already earlier this year that he expects two or three of his teams to attend the competition.

The 2009 season will probably bring the AA Class into the Czech league plans. Jan Klapka has gradually introduced the competition classes to the Czech 4-way community, year by year. This year's A Class teams will most likely have the opportunity of another step up before entering the AAA Class with the complete IPC dive pool.
