Did You Know...

... that the Fun Flag had its first showing in the NSL office?

Secretive visit at the NSL office in the press room - see video
posted Aug 8th, 2008 - It was a very exciting day at the World Meet 2008 in Maubeuge. The situation in 8-way has settled after the NSL News interview with John Hoover and Eric Heinsheimer. The Italian 4-way and 8-way friends have forgiven the NSL News for the critical remark, and they still enjoy the top position in 8-way at the world meet polls.

The press room in Maubeuge was almost overloaded with excitement when it was time for the next NSL-TV event. This time, it was a secret affair though. The next guests were guided into the press room though the backdoor, and it had to be a very quiet and confidential situation.

The doors were locked as soon as the guests had carefully entered the room. It was time to turn on the NSL-TV camera and discuss the best kept secret in Formation Skydiving competition. The five members of the French national 4-way team in the female category, Aerokart Deep Blue (Sophie Deremaux, Bérangère Duplouy, Françoise Simons-Hamouchi, Amélie Tirman, Christophe Chekroun - Alternate on Camera), had accepted the invitation for a live NSL News interview.

Relaxed atmosphere after locking the doors
The NSL News knew that the Deep Blue members had captured the Fun Flag last year in Russia, as another story had reported last year. The NSL News asked the French team very carefully whether they would be willing to bring the Fun Flag to the office for the interview, and they agreed.

The Fun Flag was well hidden and protected when it was smuggled into the press room. Once the doors were locked and the security guards positiond, Amélie Tirman unfolded the precious item, while her team mates took their seats in front of the NSL-TV camera.

It was surprising and amazing how well the Fun Flag looked like. It was actually in a better shape than ever before. Amélie Tirman said that her children liked the flag so much that they washed it, cleaned it and took good care of it while it was in her team's possession.

Important details of the Fun Flag...
Sophie Deremaux told the whole story of what happened in Russia last year. She and her 2007 team mates at the FAI World Cup 2007 had to make quite some efforts to capture the Fun Flag. The details of that story are available on the NSL-TV video, which can be viewed by clicking here.

The Deep Blue members promised to let the Fun Flag fly as soon as the competition begins, as they are committed to stick to the rules. However, they were not willing to reveal any details of the location.

Finally, Sophie Deremaux, one of the two female 4-way competitors in Maubeuge who won a medal already at the World Meet 2006 in Germany, explained for the NSL News audience how her new team compares to previous lineups. The Deep Blue members also said that they found a way how to deal with the qualification process so close to the World Meet 2008.

The Fun Flag will remain for one more day in hiding, while the French team gets ready to take on the other top contenders at the World Meet 2008. The NSL World Meet polls have the British team Bodyflight Storm in 1st place, the US team Fastrax Blue is in silver medal position, and France wins the bronze medals.
