Did You Know...

... that Deep Blue members repaired the Fun Flag - and lost it?

Fun Flag on top of the French tent
posted Aug 11th, 2008 - The 8-way teams are still completing Round 4, while the 4-way teams were sent home in the late afternoon without any more jumping. The last update of the day is once again about the most important item of the World Meet 2008 in Maubeuge, the Fun Flag.

The last uploads of some more NSL-TV videos will follow later this evening.

The NSL News reported sad news this morning, the Fun Flag was not flying any longer. However, the sad news actually turned into good news when the flag was flying again not much later. And it was still in French possession.

The NSL News coverage of the FAI World Meet 2008 is brought to you with the help of:
Sophie Deremaux explains today's Fun Flag story
Deep Blue member Sophie Deremaux told the NSL News that her team only tried to protect the flag from the weather, not from any attempts to steal it. In addition, she admitted that it was also too difficult a location for a fair game whe it was flying on the top of the crane.

The Fun Flag was in a sorry shape after being exposed to the rain and the strong winds for a whole night. It was even ripped at a few areas. The Deep Blue members did not only save its life, they also fixed it up with a new patch located around the "F". They washed it, and it almost looks like new again, at least on one side.

Next step was to let it fly again. It was a simple spot this time, almost inviting to go after it as soon as possible. It made the showing on top of the French tent today.

Fun Flag in new possession
However, it did not last there very long. It was probably unprotected when the French 8-way team with all friends and fans walked to the boarding area in the afternoon. Somebody, rumors say from the United Kingdom, used a windblade to fish it from the top of the tent.

The NSL News received a hint at some time in the afternoon and visited the meeting place for the next secret presentation of the Fun Flag. Yes, it has new owners for now, and they promised to let it fly again tomorrow morning. The NSL News will hopefully be able to follow up next time with the Fun Flag flying again.
