Did You Know...

... that Brits and Scots fought over the Fun Flag?

posted Aug 12th, 2008 - Quick update on Round 6 before the day will be wrapped up once again with the most important topic of the day. Airspeed Odyssey lost two points in the judging room, and France Maubeuge got two points closer to the very top of the leaderboard. Airspeed's lead is down to three points over Hayabusa Defence and four points over France. The scoresheets have not been available for the NSL News yet. They will tell more about what happened, tomorrow...

And: Cyprus is two points ahead of Turkey and seven points ahead of Slovakia. Cross your fingers.

The NSL News coverage of the FAI World Meet 2008 is brought to you with the help of:
Bragging Connextion members
Back to the Fun Flag. It became a very serious matter today, almost too serious for such a fun project. It almost ended up in a fistfight. The trouble started yesterday when the Fun Flag was secretly presented to the NSL News in the British quarters at the dropzone. The photo was posted at the end of the day.

The NSL News was ready this morning to reveal who was in the photo for the general audience. Of course, insiders knew the new owners already after seeing yesterday's photo at the NSL website. And that's where the trouble really started.

UK team Fusion, true owner of the Fun Flag
Members of the British 8-way team Connextion had proudly presented the flag to the NSL News. They mentioned that somebody else had actually fished it from the French tent with a windblade. However, the NSL News did not pay much attention until a nasty e-mail came in this morning. The real hero asked to get credit for risking his life and wanted the Connextion photo removed from the NSL website.

The NSL News rushed to the British quarters as soon after reading the e-mail as possible to avoid further damage and a serious conflict. The danger was real since it was a conflict between Brits and Scots.

New location of the Fun Flag
Fortunately, the battling parties from the United Kingdom had already negotiated a truce. Fusion member Laura McLelland's husband Douglas and Fusion's Lynne Murray had actually captured the Fun Flag the day before and had already taken back control over it. The Connextion members had stepped back to keep the peace.

Fact is that the Fun Flag is now located in the British tent, and Brits and Scots are watching over it together. The NSL News is glad that the conflict didn't escalate into a serious pub brawl...
