Did You Know...

... that the 8-way semifinals conclude the day in Maubeuge?

Dr. Thiele at the German headquarters in Maubeuge
posted Aug 13th, 2008 - More serious team fans can be sighted out their in the field.

The German delegation has strong fan support, as well. Dr. Thiele is supporting his two sons in Maubeuge. Jörn and Max Thiele are both members of the German 8-way team EADS and compete with FSC Eisenach in 4-way. Dr. Thiele was a world-class competitor in his time, too. His team "Walter's Voegel" was a medal winner and world-class team by then. His sons are on the way to the top of the world.

The 8-way teams have already landed, and the judges are in the middle of their work. Germany will be up soon, with the whole family being involved somehow.

The NSL News coverage of the FAI World Meet 2008 is brought to you with the help of:
More German fans on the walk to the boarding area
The competition in the 4-way Open Class seems to be settled in the medal positions without any major meltdowns happening anywhere tomorrow.

It's the same situation, or even more so, in the 8-way competition.

The US 8-way team gave up only one single point to France in rounds two through five. The major damage was already done in Round 1. The video of that jump has been uploaded.

Only the female 4-way category seems to have potential for possible changes on the very top of the field.

Italy's 8-way team Ex3mo
The German team had a slow start and a bad key situation in the middle of the jump and lost a few points. However, Italy is already too far away in the front, and there is no danger from behind. EADS will surely post the highest meet average in German 8-way history. That's a good reason to be happy.

Germany's 16 points turned into a 14-pointer on the scoreboard, and the three top teams are next.

Italy made it very clear who is the better team and who deserves the bronze medals. This is the last competition for this lineup, Ex3mo will not continue after the World Meet 2008. The first 8-way medals for Italy will make the history books.

Team USA 8 lost a point in the judging room in the semifinal round, as well.

France wrapped it up with a beautiful 24-pointer. The reigning 8-way world champions are now standing at a 22.5 average, which would improve the 22.4 average of the Golden Knights in 1997. Can they maintain it through the last round tomorrow?
