... that teams from Florida swept last weekend's leaderboard?
posted Aug 22nd, 2008 -
The 4-way Formation Skydiving world moves and changes quickly. The World Meet 2008 is over, even though the NSL News coverage will still continue for a while with reviews and event related stories. Other meets have already taken the place on the front page and on the leaderboard.
The latest scores from Russia will be evaluated soon, hopefully before the upcoming nine meets this weekend will take the attention of the NSL News. The national championships of the United Kingdom, France, Netherlands and Czech Republic are on the meet agenda, plus several additional events in Europe and the USA.
Five smaller meets took also place last weekend, right after the conclusion of the World Meet 2008 in France. The leaderboard on August 16 was completely under control of the Florida Skydiving League - it was a complete sweep. Five FSL teams competed in all four competition classes at Skydive Sebastian and captured all top positions that weekend.
Sebastian Tempest and Teiwaz gave each other a good competition over three rounds in the AAA Class and both ended up with the highest totals and averages after these three rounds. Tempest competed with the original lineup, while Robert Chromy had his comeback in the Tail slot for Teiwaz. Bob Byrne was in the Point position, with Center Outside Jim "Bu" Klinge and Center Inside Rodney Cruce.
Centerline XP of the Ranch Skydiving League and the new Wind Shear lineup from Cross Keys battled it out over six rounds. Centerline ended up with a 2-point advantage.
FSC Wind Damaged completed five rounds in Sebastian and finished with an 11.4 average, which stands for the Lake Wales team's highest meet average after five or six rounds. Only Ranch Vortex outscored FSC Wind Damaged once in Round 5. The FSL team is now on top of this year's AA Class leaderboard of all listed US teams.
Zero Tolerance Miami continues to move closer to the A Class leader from Colorado, Mile Hi Mayhem. The team's progression in 2008 (7.1 - 6.6 - 9.3 - 7.5 - 8.7 - 10.3) promises a great showdown at the NSL Championship 2008 that both teams have on their schedule. Mayhem won the NSL Rookie Class championship in 2007. The NSL News had introduced the team from Skydive Miami with the story on 12 June 2008.
The 10.3 average last weekend marks the first time that Zero T (Trevor Cedar - Point, Alexandra Kolb - Tail, Pam Manos - Center Outside, Guido Marti - Center Inside and Luis Alvarez on camera) finished above the 10.0 average level after six rounds. Five of the six rounds were 2-digit scores. Team leader Pam Manos said that the team was tired after a long weather hold in the afternoon. Fatigue was probably the reason for the 7-pointer in Round 6.
Only two teams competed in the Rookie Class last weekend. The second team from Homestead, Miami Evolution, posted a new record score for a single round with the 11-pointer in Round 5. Only the 0 in Round 3 kept the team from finishing with a new record average, as well.
Lourdes Coello (Tail), Brian Feero (Center Outside), Danny Guida (Center Inside) and Yvonne Saa (Point) attended their third meet of the 2008 season. Alex Uriarte was filming the team once again in Sebastian.
