Did You Know...

... that the Texel Airport Team collected most of the Dutch points?

Dynamic Force at the World Meet 2008
posted Sep 12th, 2008 - The NSL News revisits one more time the ESL Championship 2008. A new team name caught the attention of the NSL News and the audience when the first scores were posted, as the story on 5 September 2008 reported.

It turned out that the "Texel Airport Team", winner of the AAA Class competition and new European Skydiving League champion of 2008 was actually the Dutch national 4-way team Dynamic Fource, the top contributor of scoring points of all teams (73) for the Dutch ESL delegation.

Dynamic Fource's Center Outside, Paul Hofstee, provided the NSL News with additional information of the team's 2008 season and the event on Texel a week ago. It was a successful but expensive season for his team, and he explained how Dynamic Fource came up with the special team name for the ESL Championship 2008:

Airport Texel Team at the ESL Championship 2008
"We had a very busy season with very good results at the World Meet 2008 and also at our national championship. But we also spent a lot of money for training jumps and windtunnel time, including four hours with Hayabusa. When I talked about it with Texel Airport Director Ed de Bruin and his son and Texel Airport Manager Mike de Bruin, they asked me how we are able to pay for all of this. Well, I actually don't know, but it is always happening..."

Dynamic Fource was not planning to compete at the ESL Championship 2008 due to the financial situation. However, eventually Ed and Mike de Bruin offered help and support for the team and decided to cover the expenses. The Dutch national team showed its appreciation by competing under the new name, "Texel Airport Team" for the event. The deal obviously worked well since it caught the immediate attention of the NSL News...

Credit for UK team Satori
Paul Hofstee said that the ESL Championship 2008 concluded a great year for the team: "We are delighted that we had three good meets in a row this year, beginning with the World Meet, then our Dutch Nationals ten days later and finally the ESL Championship."

He pointed out that the pressure of the World Meet is always pushing a team to do its best anyway. Then the Belgium guest team Hayabusa Defence Beta gave Dynamic Fource a good competition at the Dutch Nationals. Finally, UK team Satori put the pressure on his team on Texel last week.

He complimented Satori for a great performance and provided additional information that explained why the UK team ended up farther behind Dynamic Fource than expected:

Fun Flag conclusion of the ESL Championship 2008
"The scores of the ESL Championship do not show that Satori actually completed the same number of points within working time in Rounds 1 and 2 as we did. Then they had an unfortunate start in Round 3 before they ripped the jump and earned great respect with the moving speed. They also lost two more points in Round 4 where we scored actually only one point more in working time."

The new ESL champions of 2008 in the AAA Class thanked all the other teams from Denmark, Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, United Kingdom and even Greece, who made the long trip to Texel in the Netherlands, and hope to see everybody back in the United Kingdom next year.
