Did You Know...

... that the Brit Chicks focus on 8way this year?

Lesley Gale with her Brit Chicks at the World Cup 2011
posted Jan 20th, 2012 - The NSL News recently reported personnel changes on the national top level of Formation Skydiving competition in Germany. Other changes have also happened in the United Kingdom at the turn of the year, even though none of the national teams of 2011 (Satori - 4way Open, Bodyflight Aerodyne - 4way Women, Brit Chicks - 8way) have reported any team news of the lineups.

In fact, at least Satori and Brit Chicks are planning to intensify their efforts with the same lineups to prepare for the World Championship of Formation Skydiving at the Mondial 2012 in Dubai.

Brit Chicks member Joanne Hawley, who has been updating the NSL News from the United Kingdom on a regular basis, is doing her share to focus on the 8way job. She left her 4way team Kaizen to focus on 8way training and competition with the Brit Chicks who will represent the United Kingdom in Dubai. The NSL News broke the news on 17 November 2011 after an interview with team captain Lesley Gale during SkyQuest in DeLand.

Lynne Murray with Fusion at the World Meet 2008
Kaizen will probably not suffer too much, as the team has already found a new team member who is well prepared for Kaizen's performance level. Lynne Murray was a member of UK's national 4way Open Class team at the World Cup 2007 in Russia and the World Meet 2008 in France, Fusion. Then she joined the Brit Chicks 4way team in 2010 and continued in 2011.

Lynne Murray has not been in the Brit Chicks 8way lineup though where Kaizen member Joanne Hawley had her additional 8way slot. Kaizen outscored the Brit Chicks in 4way at the outdoor meets last year, and Lynne Murray will be challenged to fill the slot adequately and smoothly.

Jo Hawley can now focus on 8way with the Brit Chicks, but she will also fill the open 4way slot that Lynne Murray left in one of the two Brit Chicks 4way lineups. This will be the same challenge the other way around, as the Brit Chicks with Lynne Murray outscored Kaizen at the World Challenge 2011.

The logistics will probably be easier for both 4way teams from here on. Jo Hawley had to consider her Brit Chicks 8way schedule while she was with Kaizen. Lynne Murray had to see how much time would be left for her Brit Chicks 4way lineup after the 8way plans were completed.

All Kaizen members can now make plans only for 4way, and Jo Hawley has 4way as a lower priority anyway, at least for the 2012 season. She is in the same boat as her Brit Chicks 8way team mates for the 4way planning.

Jo Hawley takes the open Center Inside slot for the Brit Chicks in 4way. She is familiar with this position that she had with Kaizen during the World Cup season in 2009. She said that she is back up to speed in the control center after five hours of windtunnel training with her new 4way lineup. The new Brit Chicks 4way lineup will compete at the World Challenge 2012 and at the UK Nationals 2012. Kaizen will probably be at the same events and a few more.
