Did You Know...

... that the complete French national delegation competed in Paris last weekend?

Estimated 1.5 point deduction per round: Solly Williams, here with Arizona Airspeed member Niklas Hemlin
posted Feb 20th, 2012 - Not only the scores of NMP-PCH Hayabusa and Aerodyne Aerokart at the Aerokart Indoor Championship 2012 deserved special attention. The first NSL News update mentioned that the rest of the field of 22 AAA Class in Paris was just as interesting.

The scores from Paris, especially the ones on the very top of the leaderboard, require an adjustment though that can only be estimated. Solly Williams, DeLand Majik 4way world champion of 2004 and professional coach, said that he would deduct approx. 1.5 points per round considering the easier start into each sequence with a Star.

However, even this deduction would bring the top contenders from Belgium and France to a level that would be more than competitive with Arizona Airspeed's results at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championships 2012. The showdown at the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2012 promises to be a thriller..

The AAA Class leaderboard in Paris last weekend had everything behind Hayabusa that France has to offer at the moment, including all national competitors in all categories. It even reached far back in time with the three 8way World Meet medalists of the 80s (Didier Boignon, Jeff Ronzevalle and Franck Vazille who are now doing 4way with Monaco Rebootizer Aerial.

Aerodyne Maubeuge in 3rd place is the second half of the French national 8way team that won the gold medals at the World Meet 2010 in Menzelinsk, Russia. Golden Knights team captain Brian "BK" Krause had just explained to the NSL News how helpful the stronger 4way performance of the Black lineup will be for his 8way team.

The two French 4way teams of the 8way lineup still have an advantage at the moment. Aerodyne Aerokart's 32.8 average compares to the 27.3 average of the Golden Knights Gold, not considering Solly Williams' 1.5 point deduction. Aerodyne Maubeuge finished with a 28.2 average, which compares with the 23.0 average of the Golden Knights Black.

Aerokart Deep Blue world champion lineup of 2010
Thunder beat the team's own 25.6 record indoor average of November 2011 easily with 27.9 last weekend in Paris and outscored all other 4way teams, including all Deep Blue members and defenders.

It was an interesting reunion of all Deep Blue members. Only the current national 4way team in the female category actually had four ladies in the lineup. Three of the original Deep Blue members (Sophie Deremaux, Bérangère Duplouy and Françoise Simons-Hamouchi), reigning world champions of 2010, needed a substitute for their reunion since Amélie Tirman continued with the new lineup.

The two new mothers agreed to allow Sophie Deremaux's fiancee Patrick Boulogne, a former national B-Team member, to fly the Tail slot. The 3-way is extremely well trained together after years of tyraining and competition with Aerokart Deep Blue and did not need much time to warm up. Patrick Boulogne filled the open slot well enough to outscore the current national team, the Aerodyne Deep Blue Defenders.

Amélie Tirman is actually the only defending world champion in the current French national lineup. The 25.4 average last weekend with new member Stéphanie Texier beats the 24.8 of the previous lineup with Sophie Deremaux at the same event last year. It also outscores the Paraclete XP results of the female Golden Knights lineup (21.1) before the estimated 1.5 adjustment.

French national 4way coach Marin Ferre will probably be satisfied with the progression of his new female lineup in the French delegation for the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2012. The leaderboard also shows the new French farm team for the female 4way category. Maubeuge NPC B3 is officially the third national B-Team lineup and consists of Anne Laure Chratien, Pamela Lissajoux, Marie Maniglier and Sophia Paucout.

The two other B-Teams have new lineups and still continued with the same neck to neck race that they gave each other at each meet throughout the whole 2011 season. The same complete French delegation is also registered for the World Challenge 2012. Aerodyne Aerokart and Aerodyne Deep Blue Defenders will also compete at the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2012 before the indoor competition in Bedford.
