Did You Know...

... that Whooops and Veyron have a mini training meet in DeLand?

Whooops at the World Cup 2011
posted Mar 1st, 2012 - The NSL News story on 30 December 2011 explained what the Dutch national team of 2011, Whooops, was planning for the 2012 season. Whooops is going into the team's 8th season after launching the team project in the Dutch Rookie Class competition of 2005.

The Rookie Class team of 2005 eventually represented the Netherlands as the national 4way team at the World Cup 2011 in Saarlouis, Germany.

An earlier NSL News story last year, on 19 December 2011, covered the national 4way plans for Denmark in 2012, another European country just a few hours northwest of the Netherlands. The story introduced the national A- B- and C-Team lineups and the training plans as far as they were available by then.

B-Team for Denmarkat work: Veyron with coach Solly Williams
Both teams are recently in the middle of their spring training camps in DeLand, and the NSL News used the opportunity to catch up with Whooops, coached by Solly Williams, and Veyron, coached by Gary Smith.

Whooops and Veyron completed their first four rounds of a training competition today. Both coaches, Equanimity bronze medalists for South Africa in 1997 and DeLand Majik 4way world champions in 2004, know how important competition training and competition experience is for 4way teams and include training meets on a regular basis in the training plans.

Both teams could not schedule their spring camps to include the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2012, even though they would have liked to be a part of it. Whooops competed at the Shamrock Showdown last year.

Friendly competition at the spring training camp
Denmark's A-Team, Bodyflight Voluntas, will post the first official Danish scores this year in a few weeks and follow up at the World Challenge 2012, together with the C-Team, Contrails.

Veyron kept up very well with Whooops in the first two rounds. The Dutch national team gave the Danes a 1-point advantage for each round, which does not show on the unofficial leaderboard. Whooops then pulled far away with a nice and clean sequence of random formations in Round 4. The training competition continues tomorrow.
