Did You Know...

... that ISB Air Remscheid is getting ready for the comeback?

posted Mar 13th, 2012 - It is a fact now - the World Challenge 2012 has new record participation. The currently registered 69 teams are short of the magic 70, however, a lot of work is waiting for the NSL News at Bodyflight Bedford, and the audience can once again expect an exciting competition with plenty of live NSL News coverage.

The progression of the number of teams since 2006 even beats the one of the highscores for the Super Sequence in the past and is very consistent. How many teams can a windtunnel accommodate for a competition on a weekend? Host Paul Mayer seems to be determined to find out what is possible.

The NSL News covered the history and the future of the Super Sequence on 17 February 2012. The recent decision to leave the Super Sequence in the hat until it's being drawn surely had no negative impact on the participation. The majority of the voters prefered to follow the IPC rules for a competition draw anyway.

Several of the teams who compete at the World Challenge 2012 will be posting outdoor scores this weekend at the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2012 and then travel to Bedford. The windtunnel competition will be the first meet this year for many other teams.

One of the teams with the first new numbers on the scoreboard will be the German female lineup of ISB Air Remscheid. The young German national team in IPC's female 4way category is expected to be a very strong contender for the top positions and medals this year and will be well prepared for the first competition after Sarah Hajooze's back injury in March 2011.

ISB Air Remscheid has used the down time to create a support group and make plans that will allow the team to train as much as possible between jobs and vacation time. The FSC Remscheid skydiving club with its dynamic President Klaus Remscheid is a part of the support group, together with the windtunnel in Bottrop (Indoor Skydiving Bottrop) and the MD Skydive operation with its dropzone in Magdeburg, host of SkyQuest Germany 2012.

ISB Air Remscheid after the Shamrock Showdown 2011
A German TV station recently visited ISB Air Remscheid at an indoor training session with a camera team. The clip was aired on the public TV station shortly after the training and included a flying session with Klaus Mathies who turns 70 this year. Three ISB Air Remscheid members spent a minute with him in the flying chamber. The very positive TV coverage also shows the team in action and will help to improve the image of skydiving in the general public.

The new ISB Air Remscheid lineup came together at the end of the 2010 season when Petra van Overveld joined the team in the Point slot. The team attended the ISR Grand Prix 2010 in November and posted a 22.7 average. Plans were made for the 2011 season and had to be canceled when Center Outside Sarah Hajooze broke her back during the final training camp before the Shamrock Showdown 2011 in an accident that was not related to skydiving.

She had to sit out for the whole 2011 season to recover and is now getting ready for indoor and outdoor action. The World Challenge 2012 will be the comeback for the complete lineup.
