... that NSL-TV features the world record challenge in Round 9?

8way boarding for Round 9
posted Mar 18th, 2012 - The NSL News has mentioned the potential for a few new unofficial 8way world records several times. Round 9 of the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2012 deserved special attention.

The NSL Reality TV camera followed Golden Knights and Sky Panthers Barkli all the way from the final preparations for Round 9 to the landings and the live judging in the viewing area. Both teams were very much aware of the situation, and so was judge Eric Heinsheimer who walked the Golden Knights out to the boarding area.

It was a fast sequence in Round 9, even though it required a lot of engineering work and accurate execution. Eventually, Sky Panthers Barkli and Golden Knights came up with two different ways how to master the sequence.

Neither of the two different engineerings lead to a new world record. The Golden Knights completed 31 points within working time, which would have tied the previous world record for a single round. Eric Heinsheimer and his fellow judges deducted two points from the total for a 29-pointer on the scoreboard.

The Sky Panthers Barkli completed 30 points within working time and lost one point for a 29-pointer. Russia and USA tied scores for the third time in this meet, and Barkli posted a new unofficial Russian 8way record for a single round.

The Golden Knights once again increased the team's meet average but finished short of the 22.4 record average of 1997, as well. Eric Heinsheimer witnessed another unsuccessful challenge of both highscores. However, the three top 8way teams in the world are getting closer each time they compete, and it is only a matter of time when they highscores will fall.
