Did You Know...

... that Denmark has a competitive AAA Class field this year?

Project team Veyron at a 2012 training camp in DeLand
posted Mar 24th, 2012 - The NSL News has covered Denmark's three-team model for the national 4way project several times. This year's project teams are Bodyflight Voluntas, Veyron and Contrails.

There are also several other teams who wish to challenge some of the project lineups, as Kjetil Nordin reported from Denmark. Bodyflight Voluntas is probably too strong to be threatened by anyone, unless former DK champions get together and invest in some training. However, Kjetil Nordin thinks that there are several teams who might be able to fight for glory from the 2nd place down.

He said that first up of the challengers is Chute Me, a Danish team going into their third season. The only change in the lineup is the Center Outside, as Christian Gufler has moved on to the project team Contrails. Chute Me has filled the slot with former Perris Blitz member Kristina Peterson as a player coach, who has also competed with Perris Moxie and Sebastian Tempest. Chute Me outscored Contrails at the Danish Nationals 2011, and it will be very exciting to see how the scores will be settled this year. Both teams have only changed one team member.

Danish Divas at the 2nd Dubai Championship
The Danish Divas is Denmark's female 4way lineup to represent Denmark at the World Meet 2012 in Dubai. Their former display in competitions include the Dubai Gulf Cup and the Danish tunnel championship in October 2011.

The Divas have also switched a team member at the end of the 2011 season. The Divas scores from Dubai were higher than Contrail and Chute Me both scored last year. This changed at the indoor competition in October when Chute Me displayed a remarkable performance with former Voluntas member Flemming Andersen filling the Center Outside slot. Chute Me snatched the silver medals ahead of Divas.

Next up coud be AirPlay, a new team that was formed at the end of the 2011 season. AirPlay has far less history and experience than the other teams but is working systematically and hard in hope to become a challenger. AirPlay's first and only competition was the Danish Tunnel Championship in October, where they posted a 13.4 average in the A Class competition.

Blue Motion, formerly knows as Luftens Helte, in 2010
The AirPlay scores are far from the AAA Class scores of both Chute Me (15.1) and Danish Divas (14.4). However, the team's player coach Kjetil Nordin, former member of the Norwegian national 4way team, has worked hard with the team to bring up the scoring level dramatically. AirPlay might be able to at least win a round here and there. AirPlay's next step on the team's journey from A Class to AAA Class is the World Challenge 2012 where the team will compete in the AA Class.

Blue Motion previously competed as Luftens Helte and is the final AAA Class contender in Denmark. The team were a serious threat to AirPlay in pursuit of the A Class gold medal in the October Tunnel Championship, as they tied their scores in four consecutive rounds.

Blue Motion member Maria Ondracek then switched to AirPlay, which left Blue Motion with only three members. Martin Halfer has now taken the open slot and might bring the team to a higher performance and scoring level, as he has a lot of 4-way experience. He trained and competed with project team Bodyflight Atlas last year.

Bodyflight Voluntas at the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2012
It looks like a promising year for Formation Skydiving competition in Denmark. Teams will compete in all four competition classes for the first time in history.

The World Challenge 2012 will be the first test for several Danish teams at Bodyflight Bedford. Bodyflight Voluntas just posted the first scores of the 2012 season at the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2012 missing the interim goal of a 15-average by one single point and now travels to Bedford.

The DKUK lineup in Bedford includes competitors from Denmark, and project team Contrail is also competing in the AAA Class. AirPlay represents Denmark in the AA Class.
