Did You Know...

... that Arizona Airspeed, NMP-PCH Hayabusa and XL have completed their final tunnel training?

Arizona Airspeed before the last training session on Thursday morning
posted Apr 5th, 2012 - Indoor preparation for a competition is a little bit different compared to outdoor competition. The day before an outdoor meet is usually a light day with only a few jumps for most teams. This is difficult to do on a day before an indoor meet. The teams buy their tunnel time in blocks and not by a few minutes of flying time.

Three of the top teams had scheduled their last training for Thursday, and the NSL-TV camera captured the last preparations by Arizona Airspeed, NMP-PCH Hayabusa and XL for the World Challenge 2012. There were no French teams at Bodyflight Bedford in the morning.

The Airspeed flying session included several Freeflying maneuvers, which usually begin when the working time of 35 seconds has run out. Teams stay longer in the flying chamber for training, between 1.5 and 2.0 minutes. The additional time works well in training but is not always helpful during preparations for a competition.

The procedures for training are different too. The competition requires the teams to get a round done within a minute: 35 seconds of working time, then leaving the flying chamber, while new teams take the places of the leaving ones. A training session keeps the same teams in the chamber for an hour or more, and they take turns with their flying sessions. The new NSL-TV clip shows how the teams work the logistics during a training session.

Arizona Airspeed shared their training time with a team from Italy with Marco Arrigo. Hayabusa coach Gary Smith is filling a slot for this team too. He has a very busy schedule at the World Challenge 2012.

XL and Hayabusa were next and shared their time also with Equinox from Lithuania, a team that was flying fully equipped with NSL Gloves, which can be seen quite a lot in Bedford. Pete Allum and Andy Grauwels also discussed their booties before entering the flying chamber, as they wear the same jumpsuits. Finally, Hayabusa's Roy Janssen commented the training session after it was over and explained the team plans for the rest of the day.
