Did You Know...

... that the RaceHouse offers additional entertainment at Bodyflight Bedford?

Bodyflight Bedford's FlowHouse at the World Challenge 2010
posted Apr 16th, 2012 - The NSL News trip to Bodyflight Bedford for the annual World Challenge has always included a surprise that host Paul Mayer had in store for the audience and for the participants.

It was not the consistently higher number of teams that the NSL News eventually got used to. It was a new addition to the facilities or a new toy that would make the visit even more entertaining and interesting, besides the world class 4way competition.

Host Paul Mayer took the NSL News on a sighseeing tour at the first visit in 2007, which was impressive enough due to the sophisticated and spacious facilities around the 16-feet flying chamber.

The next tour in 2008 showed Bodyflight Bedford with the new large workout area and a BASE jump adventure, while the new Spa was under construction.

The Spa was ready in 2009, and the NSL News attended an XL debriefing session at the World Challenge 2010. That was also the year when Paul Mayer added the FlowHouse to the facilities, which allowed the many surfing fans in the skydiving community to enjoy a wet ride during the visit.

It was difficult to imagine what else could be added for additional entertainment, but Paul Mayer is not running out of ideas how to use the big structure.

This year, his General Manager Bryony Doughty took her own action and responsibility for the new RaceHouse, which is much more than just a computer game. It is like and as real as a flight simulator, as the NSL News experienced on a test race.

It's a real race, as additional drivers can join and make it a serious competition next to the 4way competition.

Bryony Doughty explains in the new NSL Reality TV clip how it all works. The NSL News racing experience ended with a crash, bad enough to leave the trashed car and the race track behind.

However, there was still time left, and the demo continued for the NSL News audience with a more professional driver.

There was also another flying competition happening at the same time, as the NSL News mentioned with yesterday's story.

The World Challenge has always included a Freeflying competition, and this year's event was also the biggest one in the history of the World Challenge.

Thomas Perrin Gachadoat's Bottrop Goats did not end up as close to the top of the leaderboard as his 4way team, Aerokart Maubeuge, as it was a strong field.

1st place at the World Challenge 2012: Team Bodyflight
The local Team Bodyflight won again in the 2way Open Class competition, as it happened each year since 2008.

Adam Mattacola and Harvard represented Bodyflight Bedford this year and pocketed the £3,000 for the 1st place.

The team in 2nd place was well known for the NSL News audience who followed the Paraclete XP Indoor Championships 2012 carefully. The World Challenge 2012 was the second competition this year for Antigravity XP.

Alex Verner and Josh D'Annunzio have been flying in the Paraclete XP tunnel air since their fathers, Airspeed 4way and 8way world champion Kirk Verner and former Golden Knight Tim D'Annunzio, allowed them to do so, which was very early in their lives.

Three other wind tunnels were also represented at the World Challenge 2012, as top performances in this category are possible only with a lot of indoor training. Air Capitale in 3rd place trains at the Aerokart tunnel in Paris, France.

Two teams came from the Indoor Skydiving facilities in Bottrop, Germany. The new Skydive Arena in Prague, Chech Republic, had a team in Bedford, as well.
