Did You Know...

... that Contrails posted a higher outdoor average last weekend than at the World Challenge 2012?

Contrails at the World Challenge 2012
posted Apr 23rd, 2012 - The leaderboard of the World Challenge 2012 on the front page finally had to make place for new scores, which were generated last weekend at the season opener of the Florida Skydiving League 2012 season.

However, one of the participating teams managed to have the team name once again on the current leaderboard. Contrails, one of the three national 4way project teams in Denmark, followed up with the first outdoor competition after the ten rounds in the Bodyflight Bedford flying chamber.

Christian Gufler, Peter Stræde, Hans Oksen and Mads Jensen did not need their new team videographer Brian Gregersen at the World Challenge. The former Bodyflight Voluntas member now joined the team for the training camp and the competition in DeLand.

Contrails at work with Solly "Schleifer" Williams
It was much easier to complete the ten rounds at Bodyflight Bedford since the indoor competition did not need any cooperation by Mother Nature. The weather situation in Florida last weekend did not help much at any meet location. Contrails and Rookie Class team SOCOM Commandos managed to complete four rounds as the maximum for the weekend.

Contrails still accomplished something that is very unusual in 4way competition. The team from Denmark posted a higher meet average at the outdoor competition (10.3) than the team finished with after ten rounds (8.7) at the World Challenge 2012. Coach Solly Williams has been working with Contrails before the competition and has another week to prepare the team for the upcoming outdoor season in Denmark.

Bob Byrne with Higgs Boson
Z-Hills Commandos, with four participants of previous FSL Tunnel Kickers at iFLY Orlando, including former Colorado and Carolina Skydiving League Director Keith Walter and his wife Yvette, had the same sequence in Round 1 of the AA Class competition as Contrails had in the AAA Class.

Miami Exuberance, with Pamela Manos in the lineup, was the third team with the same sequence in Round 1. Her lineup included Brett Scaglione in the Center Outside slot who has a total of only 125 skydives. Pam Manos said that he did not show any signs of apprehension at jump run. Exuberance was stopped by bad weather after Round 1.

A Class team Higgs Boson is another lineup that was formed during the iFLY Orlando indoor events this year. Player coach Bob Byrne in the Center Outside slot is guiding Earl Coggin (Tail), Michael Hare (Point) and Drew Zastrow (Center Inside) through the 2012 season. Josh Roark is filming the new team. Rookie Class team SOCOM Commandos gave Higgs Boson a great run in the two rounds with Rookie Class sequences where both teams tied their totals. All FSL teams of last weekend plan to continue this year.
