Did You Know...

... that two USPA medalists of 2011 battled with each other last weekend in Texas?

USPA Advanced Class champion of 2011: Spaceland Lite
posted May 21st, 2012 - The NSL News reported on 16 May 2012 that the Northwest Skydiving League is resuming the 4way activities this year. The Texas Skydiving League is also back in the NSL Network with four separate meets scheduled for the 2012 season. The first competition took place in Spaceland last weekend, and the scores from Texas are part of a leaderboard with multiple events (Florida, Germany, Lithuania, Northern Plains, Texas).

It is no big surprise that Spaceland Lite is on the top of the AAA Class rankings. Katrina Shows, Richard Rothery, Devon Shows and Christina West, with Cory Kossan on camera, won the AAA/Advanced Class gold medals at the USPA Nationals 2011.

Spaceland Lite's winning average last year was 13.1 after ten rounds, and the Texas team launched the 2012 season with almost exactly the same meet average (13.0) but with a new team member. Joseph Wood has taken Richard Rothery's slot, while Cory Kossan is still filming the team this year. Spaceland Lite will have to compete in USPA's Open Class competition at the 2012 championships.

USPA silver for Dallas Khaos XP
The team in 2nd place at the "Texas Shootout" was almost another USPA champion of last year's national championships. Dallas Khaos XP missed the AA/Intermediate Class gold medals only after a jumpoff with T Minus 01. Both teams were tied in 1st place with a 12.0 average after ten rounds.

Dallas Khaos XP has moved up into the AAA Class competition this year even though the team would still be eligible for USPA gold medals in the Intermediate Class. The 11.8 average after five rounds last weekend is almost on the same scoring level despite the new challenge of the complete IPC dive pool, which brought a 5-round competition draw to the AAA Class teams that was loaded with memory and slot switchers.

Khaos is back with the same lineup as in 2011 (David Hickey, Eric Soden, Pete Waldroop, Matt Green), including team videographer Thad Parker who had joined the team last year. The second AAA Class team from Texas was actually in 2nd place on the overall leaderboard of the AAA Class after five rounds. Airfix Fehrbellin from Germany completed more and faster rounds and finished with a higher meet average only after eight rounds. It seems like Khaos will be one of the top contenders for USPA gold medals in the AAA/Advanced Class this year.
