posted May 30th, 2012 - Last weekend's leaderboard was completed with the first 2012 scores from the Czech Republic. It was a European affair, with meets in France, Finland and the Czech Republic.

A total number of 36 teams combined for the largest outdoor leaderboard this year so far. 32 teams competed on the same wekeend last year, which included a few meets in the USA. The integration of the French AA Class teams compensated for a weekend without any meets in the USA.

Teams and competitors in the Czech Republic attended four indoor competitions this winter before some of them showed up in Most last weekend to jump from air planes this time. However, only the Bad Boys came with a complete linup to the first outdoor competition after attending all four events at the Sportflight Skydive Arena in Prague.

Jan Klapka lands his parachute at an earlier round
The small Skysurf skydiving center had a Cessna 206 for the 4way teams, and very few teams know these days how to launch a complete formation from a small jump plane. It takes much longer to get to the beginning of the sequence, and exit funnels are happening frequently. It is no surprise that the Czech scores were on the lower end last weekend.

Jan Klapka, founder of the 4way league in the Czech Republic, had bad luck with a landing in addition to the challenging exit situation. He experienced some uneven ground conditions at the landing from Round 3 and twisted his ankle badly, which resulted in a fracture of the talus. He provided the meet information while he was waiting for a minor surgery in the hospital.

His Bad Boys kept pace with a few of the French teams on the overall leaderboard last weekend. There will be a short break now for the Bad Boys. However, there is no doubt that Jan Klapka will be back soon, as passionate as he is. He had his own words of encouragement for himself: "what does not kill you makes you stronger..."
