Did You Know...

... that the Midwest Skydiving League had the slowest start of a 14-year history?

MWSL team Mach 4 in 1999
posted Jun 6th, 2012 - The first meet of the Midwest Skydiving League this year completed the scores on last weekend's leaderboard. Only three teams made it to the season opener at Skydive Chicago, summer home of SDC Rhythm XP, and made it the slowest start in the 14-year MWSL history.

There was a player coach team with Steve Lefkowitz training on site while the meet was running, which did not not attend. Two other local teams were at Paraclete XP for a tunnel camp with JaNette Lefkowitz on the meet weekend.

Six teams was the average number of MWSL participation last year, and six teams had also attended the 2011 season opener. The MWSL 2012 season began three weeks earlier compared to the 2011 season, and the next meet will hopefully see the usual participation at one of the longest standing 4way leagues in the country.

The three teams last weekend completed four rounds on Saturday, and the Hawks continued on Sunday to get a full test of a 10-round meet.

The Hawks joined the Midwest Skydiving League in September 2011 for the first time and then competed at the USPA Nationals 2011 in the AA/Intermediate Class. The MWSL team launches its 2012 competition season much earlier this year and will have collected more meet practice before the national championships.

The 8.3 average last weekend was a new team record average after the 7.2 for six rounds in September 2011 and the 6.6 average after ten rounds at the USPA Nationals. The Hawks will probably climb up the AA Class leaderboard quite a bit this year with a much earlier start.

AA Class team Peregrine has launched the second MWSL season in the same category, as well, after attending three meets last year. Peregrine posted the first scores of the 2012 season on exactly the same scoring level where the team finished off at the last MWSL meet in September 2011.

The ReRivals is a new team name with some MWSL competitors who have been competing with the Archrivals in the past years. The Archrivals had joined the Midwest Skydiving League in the Rookie Class of 2010. They moved up into the A Class competition in 2011 where they attended all four meets with a consistent progression.

The ReRivals with some of the Archrivals in the lineup came back now with the same fresh start in the Rookie Class as in 2010. The second MWSL meet of the 2012 season is scheduled for July 7th at Chicagoland Skydiving.
