... that Ben Liston joined the coaching staff for Tuesday's FSL Tunnel Kicker at iFLY Orlando?

iFLY Orlando instructors enjoy the FSL Tunnel Kicker
posted Jun 7th, 2012 - The Florida Skydiving League held the next FSL Tunnel Kicker at iFLY Orlando on Tuesday this week. The timing was almost perfect since the FSL June meet is coming up this weekend, and several participants could use the opportunity to get some extra training for the competition.

In fact, the coaches at the FSL June Kicker were working and flying with five different 4way lineups on Tuesday evening. Four lineups consisted of FSL competitors who came with as many of their team mates as were available. The fifth lineup were the player coaches who had their own 4way action when extra time was available.

The coaching staff (Gilles Dutrisac, Bob Byrne, Kurt Gaebel), organized once again by Ari Perelman, included Ben Liston this time who has been living in Florida for a while.

Ben Liston had a lot to offer for the participants, as he is one of the most experienced indoor coaches. He created a manual for "Virtual Tunnel Training" in 2009, together with his Mass Defiance team mate Brian Stephens, that the NSL News introduced on 10 June 2009.

He has also organized several annual indoor competitions at SkyVenture New Hampshire, which are specifically targeted at new 4way competitors. The NSL News has covered this event on a regular basis.

Ben Liston was the Center Inside for Mass Defiance, the team that still owns the unofficial US record team average for "amateur teams" of 19.3 posted at the USPA Nationals 2007. Mass Defiance had a complete reunion with the original lineup at the Shamrock Showdown 2010, and Ari Perelman and Ben Liston have spent some 4way time together with the Amphibious Attack Tigers.

Both 4way fans love indoor training, and Ari Perelman also enjoys his freeflying time whenever he can get it. They also enjoy forwarding their experiences to new teams and competitors, and the FSL Tunnel Kicker participants have a treat once per month when they get free top coaching and free flying time sponsored by iFLY Orlando.

Ben Liston brought a new training method to the FSL June Kicker. The video shows that his lineup almost looks like flying in slow motion.

Purpose of the drill is to control the individual moves, and it looks like something to try. His team looked great later on when it went back to normal speed. Sebastian Jimenez, Jon Agar and Keith Murray are Zunday members and will compete again this weekend. Original member Gary Fox will take back Ben Liston's tunnnel slot.
