Did You Know...

... that weather interfered in Florida and in the United Kingdom?

Saturday weather over Florida
posted Jun 9th, 2012 - Today's weather map of Florida does not look too pretty. That's bad luck for the teams of the Florida Skydiving League who were supposed to get in the air for their second meet this year.

It's even more bad luck since the current momentum, caused by the monthly FSL Tunnel Kickers at iFLY Orlando is showing some outdoor results, as well. The NSL News reported on 7 June 2012 that the FSL teams and competitors were preparing for this weekend's event. Several teams were ready to post scores and increase the participation of the past years at a June meet significantly.

It does not look much better for Florida on Sunday, and there may be no scores coming from Florida this weekend. The rainy summer season has just begun, and the weather will become more predictable soon, with blue skies in the morning, rain storms in the early afternoon and blue skies again at the end of the day. However, the transition into the summer is sometimes challenging for skydivers...

Night time entertainment at the UKSL June meet in 2011: Enigma
The other meet this weekend takes place in the United Kingdom, and over 30 teams had challenging conditions on Saturday, as well. However, one round was completed in Langar, and the scores will be posted tomorrow.

The United Kingdom Skydiving League is set to break its own record participation once again. 21 teams competed at the June meet last year, and a number of 30 teams and higher is a significant increase.

The UK teams are still eager to outscore the USPA Nationals as of participation at the national championships. The 55-team record participation in the United Kingdom in August last year made the UK teams hopeful to get closer to the USPA Nationals or even outscore the US teams. However, the US teams fought back, and 65 teams made it to Eloy at the end of October. It was the highest participation since 2006.

Dive Exit is a rock band...
The UK teams beat the 50 for the first time in 2010 and did not let down last year. The second UKSL meet of the year has attracted 16 to 18 teams between 2007 and 2010. The number went up to 21 in June last year. 30 teams this weekend would indicate that the UK teams may plan for another challenge of the standing record numbers at this year's UK Nationals, which is once again scheduled for August.

The USPA Nationals will take place one more time in Eloy before moving back to the east coast. The event is also scheduled for almost exactly the same time as in 2011.

Skydive Langar greeted the visiting teams with a message that sounded like more fun to come after the conclusion of the first day: " Well done to the 30+ team who waited patiently for the weather. Round 1 completed, BBQ eaten, time for Dive Exit to play us into the night!" Dive Exit is a rock band...
