Did You Know...

... that Thunder posted new Tomscat Trophy records this weekend?

44-pointer with Dynamic Fource at the World Meet 2010: Paul Hofstee with 8way world champion Martial Ferre from France
posted Jun 17th, 2012 - The Tomscat Trophy 2012 is over, and no more scores were added to the leaderboard after seven rounds in the AAA Class and the A Class. The AA and Rookie Class teams completed officially six rounds, as AA Class team 4igami did not get to make Round 7. The weather allowed only the award ceremony on Sunday.

Thunder posted a new record average for the team and for the Tomscat Trophy. The former Dutch national 4way team Dynamic Fource still owned the highest average until today with the 20.6 average at the Tomscat Trophy 2010. Thunder posted a 20.1 average last year and now eliminated the previous record with this weekend's 21.4 average.

The same counts for the highest score in a single round. Thunder's 32-pointer in Round 7 also stands for a new Tomscat Trophy record. The two Dutch Thunder members, Paul Hofstee and Jacco van Eerden, can also claim now that they own the highest meet average of any Dutch 4way competitors in history. Dynamic Fource had finished with a 20.7 average after nine rounds at the World Meet 2010 and also posted the standing national record with a 44-pointer in Round 3 at the same event.

Thunder with player coach Thomas Hughes at the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2012
Thunder posted a higher average of 21.6 at the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2012. However, coach Thomas Hughes filled the slot in DeLand for the injured Tail Jacco van Eerden. This weekend's 21.4 average was posted with the complete lineup.

Thunder's meet average above 21 points may not have survived all ten rounds. The missing three rounds would have slowed down the team's scoring pace. However, the 20.6 average of the Tomscat Trophy 2010 would have most likely fallen anyway. Dynamic Fource had completed only five rounds in June 2010 without any Super Sequences.

Whooops confirmed the team's status as the current national 4way team with the 2nd place behind Thunder. However, another Dutch team that has climbed up the competition classes year by year, Creeps, begins to challenge Whooops. That's nothing surprising for the members of the national team who have expected Creeps to get closer and be competitive, as they explained to the NSL News during a training camp in DeLand earlier this year.

Creeps with the 2010 lineup
Creeps started in the Rookie Class of 2008 and competed for the Netherlands at the ESL Championship 2008. A year later, they became the strongest Dutch team in the A Class thoughout the 2009 season.

This did not change even when Creeps moved up into the AA Class competition of 2010. The team's scores were on the same level as in the A Class and not too far away from Whooops in the AAA Class.

Creeps did not attend any outdoor meets in 2011, even though the team had actually made the next move up into the AAA Class. However, Creeps showed up at the ISR Grand Prix 2011 in November and gave Whooops a good race at the indoor competition. Whooops still dominates the outdoor competition at the moment, as this weekend's scores show. However, Creeps won a round and tied two others. It could become more interesting in the Netherlands later this year.
