Did You Know...

... that the former Wissota Baby Beavers have grown up now?

Al BeVier with his NPSL and Little Cloud Skydiving staff
posted Jun 25th, 2012 - The last time that ten teams competed at a Northern Plains Skydiving League meet was in July 2010, and the highest NPSL participation ever was recorded with eleven teams in July 2009.

Last weekend, new NPSL Director Al BeVier activated ten teams of his region to compete again at Skydive Twin Cities, which tied the biggest June number (2008) in the history of the league. Great weather contributed to the early completion on Saturday, and Al Bevier is now probably aiming at the 11-team NPSL benchmark for July.

He was not far off even tying the record attendance last weekend. AAA Class team Acme did not come back for the 2nd NPSL meet after competing at the season opener in May. However, there is new great momentum in the Northern Plains, and the July and/or August meets could bring a new record attendance.

Al BeVier's Little Cloud Skydiving project is aiming at the recreational and beginner level, and the first NPSL Rookie Class lineup this year showed up at last weekend's event. There was also a new team competing in the A Class, and The 182s lineup still needs to be added to the team page, as well as the Awesome by Association lineup.

The rankings at last weekend's competition were all identical with the ones at the season opener in May. The videos show the teams with their competition jumps at the May meet.

Bob Stumm and Mary Bauer left their Wissota Skydiving center alone for a day to bring back Gang Green to the NPSL June meet, on of the longest standing NPSL teams. The Wissota Beavers are from the same DZ and attended their second meet of the year with a dramatic change. The Beavers have grown up and dropped the first part of the previous name, Baby Beavers. Then the Beavers had the same A Class battle with Plug It In Anywhere as in May.

AA Class team Cosmic Debris had no problem to maintain the top position in the AA Class competition, and the NPSL team is still holding the top spot on the overall AA Class leaderboard, as well. However, Cosmic Debris was still not too happy with last weekend's performance after a 13.0 average in May.

Cosmic Debris had some exit troubles, which held the scores down. The 13.0 average in May was also supported by a Super Sequence in Round 4 (F,Q,E,O) that the team took full advantage of with a 20-pointer. Last weekend's cmpetition draw was significantly slower and did not include a Super Sequence.

Breaking Wind and Those Guys tied the Cosmic Debris score in Round 4 and finished with almost exactly the same meet averages as in May.
