Did You Know...

... that Hvezdy from the Czech Republic challenged the top of the AA Class leaderboard?

Jan Klapka's footwork
posted Jun 27th, 2012 - The 4way teams in the Czech Republic completed their second 2012 outdoor meet last weekend, and the participation is picking up after a season opener with bad weather in May.

It is still an unusual situation, as the heart and soul of 4way competition in the Czech Republic, Bad Boys member Jan Klapka, is still grounded after a landing accident in May. His Bad Boys did not want to replace him and skipped the meet. However, his wife Jirina Klapkova, Center Inside for Velocity of Life, made sure that the family was represented on the leaderboard.

Jan Klapka tries to recover as quickly as possible in the meantime and still provided the meet information for the NSL News. He said that several pieces of his calcaneus were damaged. He sent a photo that shows quite some metal work in his foot that was worked in during the surgery almost three weeks ago. He takes it easy and reads a lot: "On the other hand I have very nice holyday and a lot of time for reading books..."

AAA Class team Monkeys came back for the team's first outdoor competition this year. Accord tied the team's highest average at last year's meets, and the Relative Team scored significantly higher than ever before.

AA Class team Hvezdy made an impressive step from the Rookie Class of 2011 into the AA Class last weekend. Hvezdy was still training and competing in the Rookie Class at the four indoor meets last winter in the Sportflight Skydive Arena in Prague. Now they skipped the A Class and finished with an 8.5 average in the AA Class. The team's highest outdoor average in the Rookie Class was 9.6 last year.

This performance placed Hvezdy in 2nd place of last weekend's overall leaderboard in the AA Class. Cosmic Debris from the Northern Plains Skydiving League could barely hang on to the top spot when the Czech team won the last three of six rounds.

Czech AA Class team Hvězdy
The Hvezdy performance was also too much for the second Czech AA Class team, Velocity of Life. The three ladies with Center Outside Jan Vajc posted significantly higher scores than at the season opener and captured the 4th place of eight teams on the AA Class leaderboard for the Czech Republic. However, it was only good enough for the 2nd place in Most.

The Skywalkers have now recruited a second lineup and sent the new team into the A Class competition. The other Skywalkers lineup competed in the Rookie Class last year and came back in the same category at last winter's indoor meets. The new team ended up in the middle of last weekend's overall A Class leaderboard.

Hopefully, the Bad Boys will be back with or without their Tail Jan Klapka at the next meet. He mentioned a 6-week recovery time ...
