posted Jul 2nd, 2012 - The scores of the Z-Scrambles have moved from the front page to the home page of the Florida Skydiving League, and new scores from the United Kingdom have taken the front page place.

There were actually three different competition draws last weekend. The Z-Scrambles story mentioned that the one for this annual event is modified for the participants. It is somehow a mixture between Rookie Class and A Class. The scores from the United Kingdom are coming from an 8way event, and the draw for both categories uses the numbers and letters of the 8way dive pool.

Then there is also the traditional competition draw as it is posted each weekend. Two meets were scheduled for last weekend, but only one competition took place in Brazil. Ther season opener of the Northwest Skydiving League was completely weathered out. The scores from Brazil will be posted later today.

The Brit Chicks helped to organize a "friendly 8way competition" last weekend at Hibaldstow in the United Kingdom, host of the national championships. UK news correspondent and Brit Chicks member Joanne Hawley said that her team was engaged to help promote 8way competition in the United Kingdom. She expected seven teams for the meet when it was scheduled, and seven teams showed up.

The Brit Chicks, official British national 8way team for Dubai 2012, launched this year's training program last month in Gap. Reigning French 8way world champion Martial Ferré was coaching the team.

The female lineup has one personnel change this year. Julie Woodrow returns after a year away replacing Michelle Meakins who has joined Brit Chicks Evolution. The Brit Chicks now also have a farm team, Brit Chicks Evolution, who also attended the team's first competition last weekend.

Joanne Hawley said that her team is very excited to bring on another team into the Brit Chicks squad. The lineup includes former 4way world champion in the female 4way category, Liz Matthews, as well as new Kaizen member Lynne Murray, who trained and competed with the Brit Chicks 4way team in 2011. Brit Chicks Evolution has scheduled only a couple of weekends of training, however, Jo Hawley expects the team doing well at the UK Nationals 2012, and last weekend's scores were a great start of the additional team in the 8way project.

The lineup of the team in 2nd place, Clim8change, was drawn from the reigning national 8way champion, Microclim8, plus a few high level alternates, including Ivan Coufal of the Spanish 8way team, members of the former national 8way champions VNE and Helen Arnold of former 4way team Sonicnutz.

Jo Hawley said that the other two teams were pickup lineups. Thundercats was led by multiple 8way silver medal winner Paul Seymour, formerly of Soundsgr8, and current DKUK member. The team also included Jonny Flowers and Martin Cressey from 4way team Eclipse. Lightw8s in the Intermediate Class was also a pickup team of young local jumpers who were getting a taste for 8way.

Jo Hawley reported that the weather did not cooperate all the way. The teams did four rounds on Saturday and started Round 5 on Sunday morning, which could not be completed due to the weather situation.

The Brit Chicks started the 2012 season on a scoring level that was almost identical with the 2011 meet averages. Jo Hawley said that her team had a good start: "We were happy that the jumps were pretty smooth. We have another training camp before nationals and feel there's much more to come though."

She also liked the performance of the farm team: "The Evolution Chicks did fabulously! They'd only done four jumps together before the competition!"
