Did You Know...

... that the CASL Championship 2012 represented the league history since 2004?

Competition briefing with CASL Director Laura Dickmeyer

posted Sep 16th, 2012 - The Carolina Skydiving League completed the 2012 season with the championship event in Raeford this weekend. Laura Dickmeyer, Golden Knights member and CASL Director, had just returned from her very successful trip to Prostejov in the Czech Republic where her team won the indirect competition with the Aerodyne Deep Blue Defenders in a surprising upset.

The NSL News coverage of the World Cup included an interview with the Golden Knights after the completion of the meet. The conversation did not only include topics of the competition in Prostejov. Laura Dickmeyer also explained how much she was enjoying her new position in and for the Carolina Skydiving League.

She said that running the meets puts her directly in touch with the teams and the competitors on the grassroot level. She enjoys forwarding her own experiences to the local and regional competitors and seeing the results after sharing her own knowledge.

Laura Dickmeyer had seven teams at the last meet of the 2012 season, and it was an interesting field. Her own team had finally decided, together with Golden Knights Team Leader Brian "BK" Krause, that they needed a rest and a weekend off after the recent trip to Europe. The other two Golden Knights 4way lineups also skipped the CASL meet, as they focus only on 8way from here on forwards.

Golden Knights 8way Team Captain Sean Sweeney had also decided that the 4way lineups will not even register for the 4way competition at the USPA Nationals 2012. The team is fully committed to 8way and to bringing the 8way gold medals and Excalibur back to the USA and the Golden Knights headquarters in Raeford.

There were still two teams who competed in the AAA Class this weekend, and Carolina Turbo XP had the team's final test before the trip to Eloy. ZeBone offered enough competition to make it a meet. Player coaches Andy Honigbaum and Jan Lane, both the previous leaders of the Carolina Skydiving League, guided ZeBone with two visitors from the west coast through the competition.

The last CASL meet of the 2012 season was like a meeting of former leagues directors. The TSC Vertigo lineup included Randy Garmin in the Tail slot and Dan Winkelstein as the team's Center Inside. The former CASL Directors even joined forces together in the rear piece.

Randy Garmin directed the CASL affairs between 2004 and 2007. Dan Winckelstein took over in 2008 and ran the league until 2010. Andy Honigbaum and Jan Lane continued in 2011 and handed the CASL ball over to Laura Dickmeyer this year. This means that the complete history of the Carolina Skydiving League since 2004 was represented this weekend in Raeford.

Laura Dickmeyer has already confirmed that she will be back next year. She will announce the 2013 schedule and more information after coming back from Dubai. She may return to Raeford as a 4way world champion in the female category...
