posted Oct 11th, 2012 - The Southern California Skydiving League ran only two meets this year after Skydive Elsinore and Skydive Perris each have hosted two meets annually in the past. However, some of the last scores of the regular 2012 season were posted by teams and competitors who have caught the NSL News attention earlier.

Perris Wicked has been covered by the NSL News since Christy Frikken and Hannah Betts launched the female team project at the end of the 2011 season. Former team member Kristen Johnson was introduced on 9 February 2012. The NSL News followed up on 22 February 2012 when Christie Blomster was selected as the 4th Wicked member.

The story continued on 25 March 2012 when the team needed a new Point after Kristen Johnson had stepped back. Perris Wicked did not find a new team member before the trip to the United Kingdom for the World Challenge 2012. Annie Peterson filled the open slot in Bedford.

The next Perris Wicked news were not so great. Christie Blomster got seriously injured on June 9th during a training jump. Her team was climbing out for an exit, when her pilot chute accidently deployed and caused a premature opening out the door. Christie Blomster is in Perris Wicked's Tail slot.

The canopy inflated over the plane's tail, she struck the frame and was knocked unconscious. The main parachute was spinning, but she managed to get control of it and cut away at 6,000 feet. Then she landed her reserve close to her team mates in a field nearby. She tried to get up and walk but collapsed in pain.

The diagnosis in the hospital was a fractured C7 vertebrae, but she had full movement in her entire body, and miraculously no other bones were broken. The neurosurgeon was optimistic that a surgery would not be required, and he was right. However, Christie Blomster would have to be grounded for at least two months.

The latest Perris Wicked news coming from last weekend's competition in Elsinore were much better ones. She is back in full action.

In the meantime, Perris Wicked has also found a new Point. Amanda Lampton has committed to the project and completed her first meet with the team. She was a recreational jumper before joining the team and had approx. 300 jumps with no tunnel training at all. Perris Wicked has now completed 100 jumps with this lineup.

Last weekend's meet included another hickup for Perris Wicked. Hannah Betts had a hard opening in Round 2, and the team decided to stop after that. It caused no serious problem this time, and Wicked is ready to move on without any interruptions. The NSL News will follow up with more information of AAA Class team Vibe.
