Did You Know...

... that Martial Ferre documented the 16way battle in Empuriabrava?

Martial Ferre at SkyQuest Germany 2012
posted Oct 17th, 2012 - Participants of SkyQuest Germany 2012 and NSL News fans who follow the updates on a regular basis will be familiar with the name Martial Ferre. He was a part of several NSL News stories in the past as a member of the French national 4way and 8way teams, and he is still reigning 8way world champion until the Mondial 2012, where either his own former team mates, the Golden Knights or Russia will take away this title.

The SkyQuest Germany participants had the opportunity to enjoy his load organizing and bigway management skills, as he puts all of his heart and energy into the task on hand. The NSL News introduced him in the runup to SkyQuest Germany 2012 on 12 January 2012.

Martial Ferre is a skydiving professional in many ways, including a similar online news update service in France, which runs under Veloce. He is also running a skydiving school in Gap, France, and organizes other events of all magnitudes. His brother Marin Ferre is a former 4way world champion and the French 4way coach for Aerodyne Aerokart and Aerodyne Deep Blue Defenders.

16way scores in Empuriabrava
Ian "Milko" Hodgkinson's winning 16way lineup
Martial Ferre recently provided the NSL News with information and a video of one of the other many events that he is involved in. It is a 16way competition in Empuriabrava, Spain, that he attends annually with a French 16way lineup, which includes a few foreigners. It is also an annual showdown with another 4way and 8way competitor from the United Kingdom who visits Empuriabrava with his own lineup.

Satori member Ian "Milko" Hodgkinson has been the manager of the defending champions who won again this year, but only due to a 0-pointer of Martial Ferre's team in the last round. It was one of the toughest battles in the history of the event, and the video shows how it was fought this year.

Search & Dethrone won four of the seven rounds and still finished only in 2nd place.

Martial Ferre's 16way lineup
Martial Ferre's lineup included his Search & Destroy 8way team who competed at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championships 2012 in February this year.

He also had Joanne Hawley in his 16way lineup, Brit Chicks 8way member who will compete for the United Kingdom at the Mondial 2012. Last not least he pointed out two other 16way members: "Pierre "Titou" Auvray and Yves Négrier are both former world class competitors of the 1990's with the French 8way teams. It was good to jump with them and have this mix of different generations."

They joined forces with other Search & Destroy veterans who Martial Ferre had introduced to the NSL News audience on 4 February 2012. Search & Dethrone member Damien Sorlin, also reigning 8way world champion of 2010 and Martial Ferre's brother-in-law, defeated Ian "Milko" Hodgkinson in UK's 8way lineup at the World Meet 2006 in Germany but had to accept once again UK's 16way dominance. Milko has now switched to 4way with Satori, and neither Damien Sorlin nor Martial Ferre will try to defend the French 8way gold medals in Dubai. They will fight it out again in 16way next year in Empuriabrava...
