Did You Know...

... that 120way world records and broken golf clubs make for interesting skydiving activities?

Interesting Hayabusa dirtdive...
posted Nov 13th, 2012 - Very different activities were going on in DeLand at the beginning of this week.

Several teams continued with their training camps having the Mondial 2012 in their minds. The French national 8way team Aerodyne Maubeuge started their training, while NMP-PCH Hayabusa took a break. Their 4way opponents from France are done with this event and have switched to 8way.

Hayabusa finished the recent part of the last training camp with an excursion into freeflying. The NSL News could not convert the original video footage into a format that would work, and YouTube did not handle the same footage much better. However, a few photos in the boarding area showed how the Belgian team prepared for the jump. The French Team4speed was probably wondering whether Hayabusa was getting ready to switch to a new event...

Trouble with golfing: Andy Grauwels
The NSL News does not have hard evidence of what Hayabusa was doing in freefall after the unusual dirtdive. However, there was still the opportunity to capture the Belgian activities on their day off from training.

Hayabusa enjoyed the day off with the whole lineup and took on another unusual activity. The team went to the driving range to hit a few golf balls. It was a team adventure, as no Hayabusa member had hit a golf ball or swung a golf club ever before. They allowed the NSL News to capture the very first time that each of the world class skydivers tried to hit the little ball. It is unique and original footage.

The video clip shows that the Hayabusa members are not only very powerful in freefall. Solly Williams provided Hayabusa with an extra set of golf clubs to make the Belgian golf outing possible. Hayabusa returned the golf bag with two missing clubs, as Andy Grauwels created enough swinging power to throw off two of the club heads. The NSL News camera was right there to capture the Belgian monster swings.

USPA silver medals: Brian and Amanda Festi
There was also serious bigway business going on at Skydive DeLand while Hayabusa decided to go back to 4way training rather than golfing.

120 POPS members successfully connected for the largest formation of skydivers over 40 to date. It took the 120 participants only five jumps on Monday and Tuesday to complete the world record formation. Then they moved on to a sequential 120way jump.

Brian Festi was filming the record attempts and provided the NSL News with the original footage. He and his wife Amanda had just returned from the USPA Nationals 2012 where they competed in Freestyle. They brought back the USPA silver medals from Eloy. Many of the bigway fans and experts have a day of rest now before BJ Worth will call them back to action. He wants to build the biggest round Star in the history of the sport at SkyQuest Florida 2012, which begins on Thusrday morning.
