posted Nov 18th, 2012 - The last day of SkyQuest Florida 2012 did not bring any better weather than the previous days. In fact, Sunday turned out to be the only day without any jumping at all, even though not a single rain drop fell from the overcast skies.

Even the 4way teams had no chance to get in the air, and the leaderboard on Sunday afternoon showed the same scores that were on it on Saturday evening. Especially the five A Class teams had enough time to study the leaderboard very carefully, which offered all kinds of speculations and possibilities.

Sinner G of the Northwest Skydiving League was ready to get back into the meet action after Andrey Ulanov had to sit our after a bad landing on Saturday. He could not jump with an elbow injury, and videographer Dmitry Rudchenko was prepared to fill the Point slot. A local substitute videographer would have filmed the NWSL team.

Dmitry Rudchenko did not get the chance to show his competitive skills in the Sinner G lineup. The team's meet was over after the four rounds. The other four A Class teams and their placements still depended on how many rounds Sinner G would complete on Sunday, as they were two rounds ahead.

However, Sinner G and the other teams eventually agreed that the other two additional rounds would count for the final standings, as the competition for the medal positions was still wide open. All teams were still waiting to get in the air when the Kaleidoscope Divers had already given up on the weather.

Round 7 had the potential to scramble the medal positions. Leader Higgs Boson was still ready to help load the jump plane and give the other medal contenders the chance to use the fast sequence in Round 7 where the DeLand team missed a higher score. The other teams appreciated and acknowledged the great sports offered by Higgs Boson.

However, eventually nothing changed, and Higgs Boson, with player coach Bob Byrne, received the NSL Shugar Cup after the best A Class battle in the history of the NSL Championship. SDC Rhythm XP's player coaches Steve Lefkowitz (SDC Force) and JaNette Lefkowitz (SDC Flow) won the silver and bronze medals with their lineups from Skydive Chicago and the Midwest Skydiving League.

Higgs Boson won the meet with the highest meet average of the team's 2012 season, despite the disappointing 7-pointer in Round 7, which could have been another 16-pointer or higher that the DeLand team had posted in Round 2. SDC Flow also improved the meet average significantly (6.4 - 7.7) to fend off Zunday by two points.

Zunday from Skydive City was the only lineup without a player coach and almost created an upset. Sinner G is also without player coaching and was not far behind Zunday. The NSL News used the opportunity in DeLand to learn more about the NWSL team in a live NSL Talk session. Sinner G is now turning the visit at the NSL Championship into a DZ hopping vacation in Florida for another five days. Hopefully the weather will get better...
