Did You Know...

... that Dubai Nexus added $15,000 to the Mondial silver medals?

New Evolution lineup with Katie Woods

posted Dec 15th, 2012 - The indoor competition in Singapore is over, and SDC Rhythm XP took the 2nd place away from Evolution. The NSL News will follow up with more detailed information later.

The Canadian 4way Open and VFS 4way team did not have much better luck in the new age 4way competition and ended up with another 4th place after finishing in the same position at the Mondial Dubai 2012.

However, the three Lemay brothers (Martin, Vincent, Benoit) and Katie Woods still made their point very clearly in both events. They also took home $8,000 cash for the 3rd place in 4way Open and missed another $8,000 by four points in VFS 4way. Arizona Arsenal, the second US team, had a much stronger showing than at the USPA Nationals and turned the 1-point deficit to Evolution into a 4-point advantage in the second half of the meet.

3rd place in Singapore: Arizona Arsenal

It was actually only the very last round where Evolution gave up the money slot. The Canadians were still one point up on Arsenal going into the last round. Two penalties and a weaker Evolution round gave the US team the final edge and the $8,000.

Arsenal had finished eight points behind SDC Standard XP on home turf in October and was now only three points short of catching up with the US national team. However, the order of VFS 4way power in the USA was eventually maintained in Singapore, and the perfect order even included the two guest teams in Eloy, Dubai Nexus and Evolution.

The silver medalist of the Mondial Dubai 2012 finished again in 1st place, just as it was at the USPA Nationals, and Evolution ended up in 4th place, which also copies the placement in October.

Strong winner in Singapore: Dubai Nexus
Some things have changed though. Dubai Nexus won by only one single point at the USPA Nationals, then extended the advantage over the US national team to nine points at the Mondial and was now 19 points ahead of Standard.

The situation is the other way around between Evolution and the other VFS 4way top teams. The distance to Arsenal was 23 points at the USPA Nationals and has shrunk to four points in Singapore. Evolution was 32 points behind Nexus in Eloy, and this difference grew to stunning 63 points at the Mondial. The new lineup with Katie Woods has brought it back down to 26 points now.

Dubai Nexus has increased the distance to the US teams and confirmed the silver medals at the Mondial. They also take home the $15,000 cash for the first place in VFS 4way.

Winner of the Mondial Dubai 2012: Nexus
Only the old and new VFS 4way world champions from France were missing in Singapore. None of the top teams on the recent leaderboard has been able yet to keep up with Team4speed.

The French team had given the competition an opening in the first two rounds at the Mondial but came back very strongly and did not give up another round. Team4speed eventually finished eight points ahead of Nexus in the gold medal position.

Coach Philippe Schorno will now have to keep his eyes on a new challenger though. The strong US teams will continue trying to get closer to Dubai Nexus and Team4speed who are looking back at the past years with a lot of competition experience. Evolution now joins the group of teams in pursuit of the French VFS 4way excellence. The new scores from Singapore are showing how exciting the next two years will be in this event.
