... that a new NSL-TV page features the 8-way competition?
posted Nov 2nd, 2008 -
NSL-TV has switched back again to the 8-way competition at the USPA Nationals 2008. As in 4-way, all captured videos can now be reviewed on the special NSL-TV page of the 8-way competition.
The NSL News coverage of the USPA Nationals 2008 is brought to you with the help of:
The videos of the last three rounds are missing since the NSL News had to leave the competition site in Eloy before the 8-way event was completed. It was bad timing, as the NSL News story on 23 October 2008 explained. The French 8-way team was challenging the 11-year old 22.4 record average of the Golden Knights and had just laid the foundation for a possible new record with the 26-pointer in Round 7. The videos of Round 7 are available on NSL-TV.
France eventually missed the standing record for a single round of 1997 by one point in Round 8 and the magic 22.4 by two points. The last three rounds of the 8-way competition were not captured by NSL-TV any more. However, at least the three missing videos of the French 8-way team will be added very soon. Team videographer Stéphane Mistrot Dit Pachet kindly provided these videos after his team had returned to France.
The new videos on the special NSL-TV page for 8-way feature Round 1 of the competition. This meet opener put everything already in place as of the final 8-way rankings on the very top. The French 8-way world champions distanced themselves instantly by four points from Arizona Airspeed and continued to win each round of the meet.
Airspeed, with exactly the same lineup as at the USPA Nationals 2007, pulled away by three points from the US national 8-way team of the World Meet 2008, USA 8. It was the first jump for this Airspeed lineup after Round 10 at the USPA Nationals 2007. Airspeed gave up only one round to USA 8, tied another one and finished as the new USPA 8-way champion, 16 points ahead of the team in second place.
However, there was a tough battle for the USPA bronze medals in the 8-way Open Class, and it started out well for the combination of Paraclete XP and Spaceland Directe XP, the Paraclete Directe XP 8-way team. This race for the bronze medals continued throughout the whole competition, and the NSL News will get back to it later. Enjoy the 8-way show and the French pursuit of the world record.
