Did You Know...

... that skydivers went team shopping in Perris after Thanksgiving?

posted Dec 8th, 2008 - The 2008 season is over, and many teams in Europe and America use the winter time to relax and recover for a little while before beginning with the actual preparations for the 2009 season.

At the same time, recruiting and networking efforts are already taking place for teams who have open slots and for competitors and skydivers who are trying to build new teams.

Perris Fury has already guided many skydivers in the past years with their team building efforts, and it has become one of Fury's traditional projects at the end of each year to connect people with each other. The Fury members also offer their services for player coach projects and team coaching.

Fury's Center Outside, Christy Frikken, informed the NSL News of the latest activities in Perris, which took place after Thanksgiving. She reported another successful networking and team building camp that was attended by 30 skydivers. She called the effort "team shopping":

"Instead of shopping for socks, ties, and fruitcakes after Thanksgiving, the 4-way enthusiasts at Perris had a chance to do some early team shopping for 2009. Individuals came from all over the country to attend this fifth annual Team Building Event at Perris."

She said that the 30 participants joined in various groups mixed and matched along with Perris Fury members and other Perris coaches over the course of two days. The camp began with a couple of foggy hours in the morning on Friday before it cleared up. Then the participants split into 4-way teams with videographers and coaches for each group. Even the existing teams were encouraged to split up and jump with a wide variety of other participants and coaches during the event.

Christy Frikken said that the group was a great mixture of many different skydiving areas: "All types of 4-way seekers showed up, including the merely curious, people looking for their first team, and those looking for a serious training experience in 2009."

She added that there were not only individuals looking for opportunities. Perris Jimani was one example at the camp for a team with an open slot.

The three Jimani members jumped with other participants in the search for a fourth member from here on. Christy Frikken said that there were also several other partial groups in the same situation.

She added that the event offered a great networking chance for all those who are excited for the next season to begin: "If you are looking for a team in 2009, please contact me directly at frikkenc@yahoo.com for help in finding a group. Also don't forget about the Fury8 projects for 2009, which now also include some 4-way options."
