Did You Know...

... that the field of teams for the World Challenge 2013 keeps growing?

World Challenge at Bodyflight Bedford
posted Jan 29th, 2013 - Pre-registration for the World Challenge 2013, with the opportunity of saving £50, is still open for a few more days, while many teams prepare for the start of the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2013 this weekend. February 1 is the deadline for Bedford before the signup fee goes back up to £350 per team.

The field of currently registered teams for the biggest indoor 4way competition in the world is as exciting as it has been in the past years, from top to bottom. NMP-PCH Hayabusa, Arizona Airspeed and Evolution may turn out to be the top contenders for gold medals at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2014.

France has not officially announced the new lineup yet, even though the selection process has been completed. Julien Degen and Mathieu Bernier will continue with two new young members of the previous B-Teams. The NSL News will follow up soon with the details. However, the audience will have the opportunity to watch the three top contenders from Belgium, USA and Canada in Bedford.

Back in action: Aerokart Deep Blue
France has the second half of the national 8way team (Gavroches) once again at the World Challenge 2013. The 8way experts love 4way just as much and have enjoyed their annual showdown with the world's best 4way teams in Bedford. They tied SDC Rhythm XP with a 24.7 average last year, and both teams have the opportunity of a 10-round jumpoff tie breaker in April. Thunder will try to be a part of this competition and climb up a few slots on the leaderboard.

Airplay from Denmark, AA Class bronze medalist at the World Challenge 2012, has signed up for the AAA Class competition this year after stepping up in the middle of the 2012 season.

The 4way Women competition features the complete Aerokart Deep Blue world champion lineup of 2010. Sophie Deremaux and Amelie Tirman just defended their gold medals successfully in Dubai and then retired from the national team. Now they team up with their former team mates Berangere Duplouy and Francoise Simons-Hamouchi for some indoor fun in Bedford.

Registered Teams: Aerokart Deep Blue (FR), Isis (UK), Kaizen (UK), Amuroray (IT), Team XX (UK)

First Kaizen lineup in 2008
It is a small field in the female 4way competition so far. This will most likely change soon, however, the current lineup of teams offers enough interesting topics, in addition to the French Deep Blue reunion.

The NSL News recently introduced a new female 4way lineup in the United Kingdom. Isis is planning to qualify as the British national 4way team for 2014 by winning the UK Nationals this year. There is probably another team who may have a similar goal, and both teams will have their first showdown at the World Challenge 2013.

Kaizen won the Open Class bronze medals at the UK Nationals 2012 after increasing the team's meet averages year after year. Kaizen was launched with a female lineup in 2008 and eventually turned into a mixed gender team. Original member Rai Ahmed is now coming back for the World Challenge 2013 with Lynne Murray of last year's lineup, plus Laura McLelland and Maria Russell, both Brit Chicks 8way members of 2012. Kaizen has signed up for the female 4way competition.

Outi, Kimmo and Kalle Pohjola at the Mondial Dubai 2012
The A Class competition features the bronze medalist of the ISR Grand Prix 2012, DNA Reloaded from Italy. Last year's 17.4 average in the same category will make the team one of the A Class top contenders in Bedford.

Pro Team 2012 member Juho Mikkola is bringing three other Heroes of the Arctic Circle (Petri Mastola, Pertti Enberg, Emilia Koskimaa) from Rovaniemi, far up in Finland's north, to the World Challenge 2013. He is not the only Pro Team member in Bedford this year.

The three Pro Team members who impressed the 4way community with the 10th place and a 20.4 average at the World Meet 2010 in Menzelinsk (Kimmo and Outi Pohjola, Eija Suvala) are back with the youngest Pro Team member. Kalle Pohjola has been with the team and his parents on many of their trips to events and now gets his own chance in the Rookie Class. He still has to wait for a few years before he can skydive, but this is exciting enough for now...
