Did You Know...

... that USA CAN and a.team4way had the closest battle of the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2013?

Closest battle of the meet: a.team4way and USA CAN
posted Mar 20th, 2013 - Father Michel Lemay was not only watching his three sons and former Evolution team mates in their battle with two of the best 4way teams in the world. He had his own USA CAN lineup and his own tough battle with another team from Russia.

USA CAN and a.team4way finished closer to each other than all other teams at the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2013, tied in 8th place with a 15.3 average. Both teams had appeared on earlier indoor leaderboards, USA CAN at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2013 and a.team4way at the Freezone indoor competition in Russia.

The previous indoor scores indicated that the teams might be close to each other.

Worst damage of the meet: USA CAN in Round 2 and 3
The competition between USA CAN and a.team4way was only as close as it turned out to be after ten rounds since Michel Lemay's team was in another race with his sons at the same time. Evolution and USA CAN both set the unfortunate meet records for the highest number of point deductions. Father Michel won with a damage of 21 points over Evolution with 20 points.

a.team4way had only half of the damage, although ten point deductions were bad enough. The Russian team had to wait until Round 7 before the judges did not find any infringements in the sequence. USA CAN started off with a clean round and then lost a total of 16 points in the next four rounds.

Infringements and video troubles combined for the big losses, and the hobby judges have a great opportunity to look for and find the bad spots. The combination of a slow competition draw and the sharp eyes of the judges resulted for most teams in meet averages below previous results. The Russian a.team4way ended up at about the same scoring level as at the national championships last year.

USA CAN lineup at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2013
USA CAN members Nick Grillet and Ari Perelman had previously competed with another Lemay family member. Martin Lemay had added the Canadian part to the team name at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2013. Brian Johnson was the 4th member at the indoor meet in February 2013.

Former Vibe member Don Burnette was at the same event and had taken the 2nd place with Just In Time. He joined USA CAN this time and will also continue with Ari Perelman and Nick Grillet for the 2013 season. Evolution coach Shannon Pilcher will be the player coach for the new lineup.

The team name may change, as there is no Canadian member any longer. However, coach Shannon Pilcher is like a family member for Evolution and could be considered Canadian to keep the team name alive. Time and upcoming meets will tell...
