Did You Know...

... that the NSL Virtual Indoor League is growing?

USPA gold in 2011: Jeff Atherton with T-Minus1
posted Mar 24th, 2013 - The Virtual Indoor League of the NSL Network is growing. It has been a casual monthly competition between teams, competitors, skydivers and tunnel flyers of the Florida and the Northwest Skydiving League so far and has brought many new participants into the 4way community of the two league areas in the northwest and southeast of the USA.

The Virtual Indoor League has more casual rules than traditional 4way competition and offers two additional categories near the grass root level of 4way Formation Skydiving. Rookie A and Rookie AA allow a new tunnel flyer to join a 4way lineup as soon as the basic flying skills have been accomplished.

The integration of player coaches in the Rookie Class categories make it easier for the new flyers to learn the basics of 4way Formation Skydiving competition.

Brian Touhey now started a new initiative in the New England area and organized the first group for the March sequences at Skydive New Hampshire. He has Jeff Atherton by his side who was his team mate when Tminus01 won USPA Intermediate Class gold medals in 2011. Jeff Atherton also competed with Dallas Khaos in the AAA/Advanced Class of 2012. This year he is a member of Dallas Khaos Black, as the NSL News reported on 18 February 2013.

Jeff Atherton also competed with Expedition at the SkyVenture New Hampshire Indoor Fest 2013. Brian Touhey and Jeff Atherton then had a Tminus01 reunion at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2013. Charly Yankee won the AA Class competition of the event with a 17.2 average.

Brian Touhey has been following the Virtual Indoor League activities with great interest for a while and eventually joined the two other groups at iFLY Orlando and iFLY Seattle with his own group. SkyVenture New Hampshire is his home tunnel and well known for facilitating and supporting 4way training and competition.

The first scores of the New England group are also the first ones posted for the month of March. Florida and Northwest now have to follow up soon. The AAA and AA Class scores are very competitive, as the previous results for the first two sequences this year are showing.

Brian Touhey also reported that the scores in the three Rookie Class categories are on a lower level to begin with for a good reason. His Rookie Class participants insisted on doing it alone and without the help of player coaches in the lineups. Congratulations for a great start at SkyVenture New Hampshire.

The New England group consisted of Brian Touhey, Jeff Atherton, Masaaki Okumura, Brandon Aaskov, Trevor Donarski, Andy Costanza, James Yates, Sam Corner, Andrew Stack, Erin Pena, Colleen Cusack and Eli Bolotin. Jeff Atherton said that the A Class scores and videos will be added soon.
