Did You Know...

... that Joey Jones welcomes the World Challenge 2013 audience from his home?

Late night training: Delegation from Portugal with host Paul Mayer
posted Apr 3rd, 2013 - The NSL News has moved to Bodyflight Bedford where the live coverage of the World Challenge 2013 begins officially with the competition draw and the first rounds on Friday morning.

The flying chamber is very busy on the days leading into the competition, and some teams have scheduled training sessions in the middle of the night, including the Blue Rebels from Greece and Atmosfera G4 from Portugal. The teams with longer travel distances combine the trip to attend the World Challenge with additional indoor training before the event.

Many teams plan the same way, and the only way to accommodate the request for tunnel time is to keep the facility running at night. The new record participation of 79 teams increases the demand for indoor training prior to the competition.

Lena and Joey in the Jones home at Bodyflight Bedford
The NSL Reality TV camera went on the usual roundtrip after arrival at Bodyflight Bedford, which began at the new office location this time. The first part of the exploring tour ended up on the first level's roof where Joey Jones lives with his wife Lena. It became the perfect opportunity for the first live NSL Talk.

Joey Jones will be a part of tonight's flying sessions, as he is coaching two teams who have booked flying time at the graveyard hours, Atmosfera G4 from Portugal and Amuroray from Italy.

He expects NMP-PCH Hayabusa to walk away with the 1st place and £5,000 this year since Arizona Airspeed is not making the trip to Bedford this time. It is kind of disappointing not only for Joey Jones, but he understands Airspeed's need for more training. However, there will be at least great competition on the top of the leaderboards for the 2nd place and in the female 4way category.

In training: XL lineup of 2007/2013
XL will once again be in the race for the remaining £6,000 (£3,000 - £2,000 - £1,000) in the AAA/Open Class. The 2007/2013 lineup with Pete Allum, Steve Hamilton, John McIver and Brian Johnson was in training on Wednesday, together with a.team4way from Russia. XL is a trained team this year...

The Peanuts from Switzerland also trained alongside with the Swiss national 4way team VIVA when the NSL News was on the first house tour this year.

The official practice rounds are scheduled to begin on Thursday at noon and last late into the evening. Those are the flying sessions when the teams define their specific air speed for the competition rounds on Friday and Saturday. The competition draw will take place on Friday morning at 8:30 am, and Round 1 begins at 9:30 am. Five rounds follow on Friday, and the meet will be completed on Saturday at 6:00 pm.
