Did You Know...

... that NSL-TV features NMP-PCH Hayabusa's CamScore judging videos?

Judges at the World Challenge 2013
posted Apr 13th, 2013 - It's time now to watch the video of the best 4way indoor performance at the World Challenge 2013 that the judges have ever seen at Bodyflight Bedford. It is at the same time arguably the best indoor performance over a 10-round meet with the complete dive pool in the history of the sport.

The NSL-TV camera had captured all ten rounds of NMP-PCH Hayabusa and the other AAA Class top teams from eye level during the live coverage of the event. The new CamScore videos are now showing what the judges saw from the angle of the camera on top of the flying chamber.

The judges liked what they saw, as the scoresheet did not have too many marks for the Belgian silver medalist of the Mondial Dubai 2012. The total of six point deductions is much less compared to the damage that Hayabusa has been used to in the past. There was even a stretch of six rounds (2 - 7) without any infringements at all.

Round 10 judging at the Mondial Dubai 2012
The Hayabusa members have become very much aware and sensitive of the importance of a clean performance. It has been beneficial for Arizona Airspeed in the history of the team that it was well known and well respected for a very clean performance. It can make a difference in the judging room in a critical situation.

Hayabusa had more a reputation of being the fastest and most energetic 4way team and not necessarily the cleanest one. The incomplete Side Body Donut (Block 2) in Round 10 at the Mondial 2012 made history as the most dramatic infringement ever and was costly.

In fact, Hayabusa was the fastest team in Dubai and ended up in 2nd place only due to the number of point deductions. The same lineup completed several more points than Arizona Airspeed in the total working time over ten rounds. Only the infringements pulled the Belgians back down to the 2nd place position.

Dangerous combination: NMP-PCH Hayabusa - Gary Smith
The stretch between Round 2 and Round 7 in Bedford is evidence for a successful effort to reduce Hayabusa's damage in competition, and it did not slow down the Belgian energy too much. Four of the cleanest rounds (4 - 7) were also the ones where Hayabusa finally pulled away from Evolution.

The young Canadian team was only one single point behind in each of the first three rounds. Hayabusa then picked up the pace without giving up any quality and convinced the judges that the Belgian performance can be fast and clean at the same time. The judges only had to push the wrong button again towards the end of the meet.

Coach Gary Smith and NMP-PCH Hayabusa have been working together to combine speed, energy and performing for the judges at the same time. It seems to work, and the Hayabusa team will continue on the same path. Belgian success with this combination could be very dangerous and challenging for the opponents...
