Did You Know...

... that there is a new AA Class race in the United Kingdom?

UK top contender in the AA Class: 4mula
posted May 15th, 2013 - The three teams on the AA Class leaderboard of last weekend's events all had their names on other ones earlier this year.

Anti Gravity Ninja Swans and Taramis competed at the World Challenge 2013 where they had finished in the same ranking order. 4mula attended the season opener of the Southern California Skydiving League, as the NSL News reported on 2 May 2013.

The outdoor scores last weekend on the same leaderboard indicate that there will be another great battle for this year's AA Class title in the United Kingdom. Hyrrokkin and Raykipo had a 3-point race over eight rounds at last year's national championships and are now competing in the AAA Class. High Altitude Heroes were in 3rd place with an 11.0 average and could be a factor if the team continues.

Visitors from Ireland: Taranis
Taranis will not be a part of this AA Class race in the United Kingdom since the team is from Ireland. Teams from across the Irish Sea between England and Ireland visit the meets of the United Kingdom Skydiving League and the UK Nationals on a regular basis.

Taranis launched the team project under the team name NYOL (Noo Your Other Left) and competed in the Rookie Class of the World Challenge 2011. Taranis now competes in the AA Class and attended the World Challenge 2013 before traveling to the United Kingdom last weekend. The Irish team was planning to scale up training and competition this year after the consistent 2-year progression and has followed up with early meet action.

Last weekend's AA Class winner, Anti Gravity Ninja Swans, did not need to intensify training and competition. The team attended a total of six meets in the A Class last year, including the World Challenge, all UKSL meets and the UK Nationals, plus the ESL Championship. It was the first year for the team and an intensive start. It seems like the 2013 season might become just as busy as last year.

Bronze medals at the World Challenge 2013: Anti Gravity Ninja Swans
The 10.0 average is a promising start of the 2013 outdoor season for Anti Gravity Ninja Swans. The team never broke the 10-average benchmark in the A Class last year and launched the 2013 season in the AA Class with the team's highest outdoor average. It was only a 3-round competition last weekend, however, a closer look at the sequences shows that the meet average after three rounds probably reflects the current scoring level.

4mula actually won two of the three rounds last weekend. Only the 3-pointer in Round 2 was in the way to win the first outdoor meet of the 2013 season. The team members were happy with Round 1 and even happier with Round 3. They did not comment on the happenings in Round 2...

The story on 2 May 2013 also explains more of 4mula's team career. Anti Gravity Ninja Swans and 4mula are in the same situation coming from last year's A Class competition in the United Kingdom. It will be exciting to follow both teams on their way to this year's national championships in August.
