Did You Know...

... that the Monaco team is down by two with a new name?

New French 8way lineup with Antoine Leleu at Paraclete XP
posted May 19th, 2013 - The first scores of the weekend are coming from France where the weather stopped the AAA Class teams after five rounds and the AA Class teams after four rounds.

It was the first outdoor competition of the 2013 season in France. Several of the teams had already attended the Aerokart Indoor Championship 2013 before this weekend's outdoor competition in Mimizan. The French national 4way teams did not compete, however, some of the lineups included current and former members of the French national delegations.

One Shot Maubeuge, the AAA Class winner, had Matthieu Colella and Antoine Leleu in the lineup. Both were in the French B-Teams of 2011 and competed for France at the World Cup 2011 in Germany. Antoine Leleu was then selected for the new French 8way team, as the NSL News reported on 28 March 2013.

Stéphanie Texier was the Center Outside for the Deep Blue Defenders who won the gold medals for France at the Mondial Dubai 2012. She guided Pogona Allin Pamiers to the 4th place at this weekend's competition.

The competition in France also featured the next showdown between the French Air Force team from Nice and the French 8way veterans of the 80s and 90s who have been competing in 4way for Monaco in the past years. Didier Boignon, Stephane Mattoni, Jeff Ronzevalle and Franck Vazille, now with Charles Ferraro on camera, are competing under a new name, Monaco Vitalsea, while they continue flying in their bright red jumpsuits.

The Monaco team had the upper hand last year, but Armee de l'Air Nice defeated the 8way experts at this year's Aerokart Indoor Championship. Monaco was ready to take back control and was three points ahead after two rounds. The devastating 9-pointer in Round 3 ended the comeback attempt, and the Air Force team won the second round of this internal rivalry.
