Did You Know...

... that Sinner G contributed heavily to the Northwest scores for the Indoor Cloud League?

Indoor Cloud League winner for June: Florida at iFLY Orlando
posted Jul 6th, 2013 - The Indoor Cloud League competition for the month of June is over, and Florida at iFLY Orlando won the 4th time in the six months so far this year.

It was a very close call though. Deb Correia's Northwest group at iFLY Seattle could have matched the FL score or outscored it without missing the points for the AAA Class. Florida was 17 points ahead with scores for all six categories, while the Northwest did not have a AAA Class lineup available last month. A 17-pointer was surely not out of reach, as the other AAA Class scores from SkyVenture New Hampshire and Sportflight in Prague are showing.

June was the first month that four groups participated in the Indoor Cloud League, as the Sun Path Products NSL News reported on 29 June 2013. However, only SkyVenture New Hampshire and iFLY Orlando had scores for all six categories and benefitted with the higher final rankings.

The Northwest was actually eight points ahead of Florida without counting the AAA Class scores and won three of the five categories where both groups had lineups collecting points for their groups. The main contributor was NWSL team Sinner G who won a total of 12 points over Florida in two categories.

Sinner G competed in the AA and A Class and posted the highest scores in both categories. Not only the numbers are impressive - the videos also show excellent and impressive flying performances.

The young NWSL team has stepped up the performance level significantly after finishing with a 7.8 average at the NSL Championship of SkyQuest 2012. Sinner G has a lineup of six team members who take turns training on a regular basis at iFLY Seattle.

Deb Correia reported that she had actually planned two events for June. The first one had to be canceled, and all focus and energy was put into the second event on June 26. However, one lineup (Bill Selig, Matthias Kaminski, Jeanna Lee, with player coach Jeff Smith) still managed to fly on the originally scheduled date, even though Jeanna Lee had to back out at the last minute: "The 3way grabbed a 4th who was hanging around the tunnel to get in some good practice time and contributed the first scoring points."

The big event was held on June 26, as Deb Correia explained: "We had 12 participants, which broke out into five groups, and we flew for an hour with coaches David Zhang, Carolyn Chow, Jason Salameh and myself. We had two participants who had never flown with us before, Monika Aikins and D'Arcy Kaaua. They both did a great job and are enthused to come back for the next round."

The other participants were Wilson Ma, Cristian Trefault, Gabriela Sanchez, Irina Ulanova, Sopurkh Khalsa, Matthias Kaminski, Martin Fox, Steve Platt, Bill Selig, and Erin Wenzel. Each group had the opportunity to fly six times and did at least two of the six different sequences.

Deb Correia added that some freeflyers were also attracted to the event: "They participated together with a few other skydivers who no longer jump but are really enjoying to fly and be part of the skydiving family again."

The new sequences for the month of July are posted, and Florida has the first scoring numbers on the leaderboard. The videos will follow soon.
