Did You Know...

... that CASL team Snatch Force is winning the overall Rookie Class?

CASL participants at Skydive Carolina last weekend
posted Jul 23rd, 2013 - The Sun Path Products NSL News reported on 4 July 2013 how Carolina Turbo XP came to the rescue of the CASL 2013 season. The update included the announcement of plans how to continue with 4way competition in the Carolinas for the remainder of the season.

The weather forecast was not very promising, and it turned out that the weather would really not support the Turbo efforts for the scheduled July meet. However, three teams still decided to see how the Turbo members would run the event, and they had a great time despite the bad weather situation.

The two CASL Rookie Class teams made good use of the extra time during the weather holds and were obviously very well prepared for the two rounds. The female Snatch force lineup took the 1st place on last weekend's overall leaderboard for the Rookie Class with five teams at three different locations.

New Carolina Dynamic 2013 lineup
Carolina Turbo XP member Joey Coffineau reported from Chester that the two Rookie Class teams were new to the Carolina Skydiving League, while Carolina Dynamic had competed with a different lineup at all three 2012 events (5.3 - 5.5 - 8.0) and then followed up with an 8.4 average at the USPA Nationals in the AA/Intermediate Class.

Carolina Dynamic has a completely new lineup this year (Jurga Berry, Michael Von Kampen, Christy Hite, Bruce Travis, with Ian Whitlock on camera) and started the 2013 season with a 7.5 average last weekend.

The two completed rounds in the AA Class had extremely slow sequences, and the second one (22,H,21) was actually identical with the AAA Class sequence. The 7.5 average for those two rounds is a very promising start for the new Carolina Dynamic lineup.

Rookie Class overall leader: Snatch Force
The lineups of the two Rookie Class teams consisted of jumpers visiting from all over the Carolinas (Raeford, Skydive Carolina, Adrenaline Air Sports in Jonesville NC, and TSC). The trip to Skydive Carolina in Chester was still very much worth the effort, even though only two rounds were completed due to the low rain clouds.

The Turbo members set up a creeper contest during the weather hold, which may have caused the clearing of the skies. The creeper contest was interrupted, and the teams took to the skies instead. Turbo helped the Rookie Class teams with engineering the sequences, while Carolina Dynamic’s coach Rhonda Wilcox assisted the AA Class team. Rhonda Wilcox is also Turbo's official alternate.

Joey Coffineau said that the morale among the competitors remained high throughout the day, despite the bad weather and abbreviated meet: "The majority of the Rookie Class participants were competing for the first time in any sort of organized 4way competition, and they expressed their excitement to participate in 2014." The last meet this year is scheduled for August 24th in Raeford.
