posted Aug 22nd, 2013 - The UK Nationals 2013 are coming up this weekend. 75 teams completed ten rounds last year at Hibaldstow, and the organizers are expecting to beat the latest record number once again at this year's event.

Seven UK 4way teams competed last week at the World Cup 2013, plus the Brit Chicks lineup in 8way and a VFS 4way pickup team. The same seven teams will meet again in Hibaldstow and try to improve the results and rankings.

The World Cup 2013 in Banja Luka saw an exciting UK battle between Bodyflight Isis and Kaizen in the female 4way category through the first eight rounds before Isis finally pulled away and won by seven points. Isis also won the bronze medals and even tied the highscore for one round with the two top teams from France and USA.

Both teams have realistic chances to qualify as the national team in the female category for the United Kingdom at the World Meet 2014 in Prostejov. This weekend's national championships will be the qualification event.

Kaizen coach Pete Allum said that Isis is the favorite at this point in time. However, both teams are close enough to each other to expect a similar battle as in Banja Luke. Kaizen can win with a great meet if Isis has an average performance.

The UK gold medals in the Open Class are probably too far away for both teams since Satori is back in action. Original founding member Julia Foxwell is coming back with John McIver, Ian "Milko" Hodgkinson and new Satori member Steve Hamilton. This brings two former XL members back together and will make Satori only stronger.

Julia Foxwell said that Aaron Faith is not available for the UK Nationals. She will give up her Center Outside slot and move to the Point position, which puts Steve Hamilton in his A Slot. Julia Foxwell is naturally trained for the new slot in the front piece, and only the exits will be new.

Former Point Ian Hodgkinson takes the Tail slot and flies the new rear piece with John McIver in the same driver's seat. Julia Foxwell said that Satori would have liked to compete in Banja Luke, however, the new lineup needed some training and used the time to get ready for the title defense at the national championships.
